Well sort of but not really... these are HDR shots (high dynamic range). The process is basically this... take a minimum of 3 (I usually do 5-7) different photos from a fixed position (aka tripod) at different exposures (meaning from like really dark to really light). Then take said pictures and put them into a program (I use photomatix, but you can do it in others) to overlay all the photos taken at different exposures and then complete the processing with tone mapping and such... kind of complicated and a bit of work for a single photo, but when done right they are really worth it.

Basically what it does is allow the camera to capture the different light spectrums at the different exposure lengths and the software overlays all the shots on each other so the single photo can capture a larger range of light spectrums.

I use CS3 and have a bit more fredom in the manipulation of the merge. I've pushed 10 exposure merges where I could remove all shadows from the photograph and make detail that was unseen, seen. I'm one that doesn't like to over cook the pictures to the point of fake, but the first one was an exception for me because of the rivet detail on the aluminum behind the car.

Here's a couple HDR merges all done with three exposures starting with a properly metered shot and the other two 1 stop under exposed and 1 stop over exposed:

I haven't really tried playing with HDR in CS3 yet, I'm not extremely experienced in detailed post processing with it. I've just started doing the HDR stuff and that '50 Chevy was actually my very lucky first attempt with it

So are you one who uses the f/stop to change the exposures? I have tried to stay away from that and using shutter speeds instead because I didn't want the DOF to change.... that really make a difference you think?

No, don't think of stop in conjunction with F-stop. 2 different terms.

Exposure changes to light are called stops. You can make them in 3rds of stops which I am sure you noticed when making that adjustment on your camera. There's 2 hash marks between each full stop on the light meter.

F stop is a direct correlation to Depth of field and it to is related to the amount of light your letting into the cameras sensor, but the change within it will blur or sharpen your back grounds.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if you were meaning f/stop or not... I know a bunch of people who will use that to do HDR and it's just not the same quality of image IMO.
