Just like to make my comment clear. I don't agree with the actions of the police one bit but it just seems to me like there might be more to this story than what we're being told.. That's all.

when they were "negotiating" with him over the phone, the cops might have mentioned something about him getting a mental health evaluation, and he, in turn, said he'd come out if he didn't have to get an evaluation

i agree that all of the "classic signs" were there. the recent lay off, the disgruntled emloyee, the massive gun purchase. but the way they went about it was horribly wrong. there are a ton of ways they could have handled this situation that do not include aresting him and taking his guns. there should definatley be a law suit and people fired over this.

My thoughts exactly. Def. overboard actions by the police. I mean... TWO SWAT teams? With no report of suspicious behavior or anything other than buying guns after being fired? I'd like more details, i.e. whats types of guns and how many? If this guy, who never owned a gun previously, gets fired and goes and buys 10 guns, including assault rifles, and thousands of rounds of ammo, I'd like SOMEONE to be a little wary, again, I don't agree with what happened and someone needs to get fired and go off the deep end themselves, but I feel that too many details have been omitted or are unknown.

I'm sorry I am a firm believer in the Second Amendment. What I find so damn retarded is that in this world some damn politician would actually HAVE to write it down! (What they get ALL the guns, and we get none?) Common freaking sense--Did cavemen carry sticks? Did the Romans carry swords? Did not our Founding Fathers carry guns? And Hello as a member of the Chippewa tribe I am here to tell you "Home Rules", and le' me tell ya we carried whatever we could, and it wasn't just for the bears!!

I thought of something else. Here in Florida, among other places, we have a Crime Stoppers hotline that you can leave a message about a crime or possible crime. Well you could easily say that someone you know, who just lost their job, just bought a bunch of guns, and is talking like he's going to do something crazy. The state will do a background check and create a formal report for that person's local PD and they will investigate it further. It's quite possible that this happened and the police thought they might stop another shooting.
