Odly enough, this is the type of bullshit police action that gets the rest of Law Enforcement's discretion removed. This will be GOOD case law for constitutional rights, but dumbass moves on the Medford PD will destroy policing actions that are Pro-active (Checkpoints are proactive, etc).

This is just awfull though... thats straight up FUCKED.

THere isnt a lot of good case law that comes from California for what it's worth... at least not that makes it to the Supreme Court. Alot from Ohio and Arizona though...

I didn't read but the first few paragraphs but I thought it was odd that the guy negotiated with police on the phone that he wasn't handcuffed, taken off his property, and not taken to get a mental evaluation. I mean, who thinks that out of the blue when a SWAT team is on your front lawn? Seems kind of odd.

oh ok i read more, still not the whole thing(too much) but i dont see the big deal. I think it was right what they did because getting laid off then buying guns isnt a good combo, yes he didnt commit any crimes but if he did the cops still would have gotten heat for not taking action for the red flags. Its a lose lose situation for the cops

The police were wrong in this situation, but honestly I can see where they are coming from. I ( If I were a cop) would have just watched him for a while and would do what was needed if a situation arised.

are you kidding me? a woman customer at randalls sued randalls because she fell off a display of a one of those coca cola 24 pack fence and mountain things. She climbed up to the top of it because she thought "the freshest coke is always on top", then when she fell, she sued- and won.
