theyre now planing on taking down sites as big as facebook twitter and youtube just to show they can. theyre also planing on taking down the sony network AGAIN.

And theres plenty more videos on youtube. just look them up.

I don't buy any of the anonymous videos until AFTER shit happens.

The entire idea behind anonymous is that it is just random ass people working towards a common goal.

Meaning none of these videos mean shit as ANYONE can make a video and claim to be anonymous on a mission.

Also. Going after Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, would be counter productive. Those websites are against internet censorship.

i'm with you on the fact that anyone can go on youtube and claim to be anonymous, but right now the hand full of videos that they post are all we have to go by till they actually do what they said they will. but they warned of more attacks over this past weekend, which they did. And everything they said they would do in the past they did minus two or three attacks that fell through

Two things I was thinking about...
1. Why don't they do something like release antispyware,antimalware and such to limit the powers others are using against people?
2. If they're so powerful why can't they email me my Gmail,Google and youtube user information?

They threatened to take down facebook back in November, they didn't. People forget that facebook is run by hackers as well, I'm sure they would know how to stop potential attacks from anon.

That may be true, but they're sort of our soldiers on the internet. To some, they seem like a bunch of asshole hackers. But I've seen these guys do a lot of good over the years.

Anon is a group of script kiddies with nothing better to do. There may be a few talents that belong to that group, but they are mostly just kids that think they are super 1337 haxxors because they know how a DDoS attack works. Which is basically just spamming a website or server until it overloads and goes down. I can teach a 5 year old how to do that. They can't take down Facebook, or any major website that cares about network security. They DDoS'd the FBI's public website and took it down. Everyone thought that was a big deal, but in actuality it means nothing and they risk a lot for a little.

now it seems you can't even talk or discuss government issues without them looking over your shoulder

and with the president now having the power to call you a terrorist and have you indefinitely detained without a trial, they could do all of this just from something you say on facebook or twitter

FTFY. Look, the NDAA sucks because it codified the AUMF, which has language I find disagreeable, but the NDAA has written into it specific preventative measures for indefinite detainment of US citizens, plus there's the aforementioned Supreme Court case setting precedent. The same is not true for foreigners though, but we still give them the right to make up habeas corpus petitions and Hamdan v. Rumsfeld in 2006 gave them the right to a fair hearing by a tribunal.

I don't understand how anyone can find the internet to be a private sphere. We post things to open forums. If you want to keep stuff private, don't post stuff. It's like yelling about your private life in Times Square and expecting nobody to hear you. When you drive down the road, do you expect the government not to be able to see you? Everyone else on the road is certainly able to see you and anyone could simply follow you around, so it's public. No expectation of privacy in a public setting.
