To Stroker or Not to Stroker? That is the Question!


If i go stroker should i go 331 or 347? i found these 347 kits:

347RK2000 Pro-X Pistons: -3cc Flat Top/Inline $1195.95
347RK2002 Pro-X Pistons: -3cc Flat Top/Twisted Wedge $1215.95
347RK2004 Pro-X Pistons: -18cc Max Quench/Inline/Twisted Wedge $1255.95

and these 331 kits:

331RK1000 Pro Series Pistons: Flat Top/Inline/Twisted Wedge $999.95
331RK1001 Pro Series Pistons: -13cc Max Quench/Inline/Twisted Wedge $1039.95

or should i just go 306?

my first choice would be 408 stroker, but my second choice would be a 347 stroker

That was great reading until I got to the part about rod to stroke ratios and increased oil consumption from the pin interesecting the oil ring grove. That kind of false information misleads so many people. Rod to stroke ratio means nothing. If it meant something the big block Chevys and other motors with horrible rod to stroke ratios would never have been around as long as they have been. The piston intersecting the oil ring has nothing to do with oil consumption. The oil control ring scrapes the cylinders. How does a piston pin intersecting the ring groove cause oil consumption? It doesn't.

Some people actually believe that bullshit. Telling those fools wouldn't do anything. They are a website, they don't build engines. Guys that do this for a living will tell you rod to stroke ratios and wrist pins intersecting oil rings is nothing to worry about. Ask Woody what he thinks about this subject. Here are a couple articles from someone that does this for a living.

well if i do go with a stroker i'm probly gonna get a new tranny like a t-56 and maybe a KB 2.1L an hopefully spin up to like around 4 grand before shiftin to make sure i get into the powerband.

that an since it seems that 347 is the way to go, which one of the kits should i choose out of the ones i first posted.


oh snap! i just realized that a stock block might not handle this much!!!
