Supercharger or Nitrous?

I just bought a 1994 cobra that had the 5.0 engine swapped with a 351 that was bored .30 over. I am debating about either putting a supercharger on it or nitrous. I'm not sure which direction to take. Some advice would be great. Thanks

Nitrous is fun...

What your compression looking like in the motor? That will determine alot...

i would go with a supercharger. nos could be fun and all. but you will end up paying more money for something you can use sometimes instead of paying the 5000 or so you something that will give you the power all the time. >)

Nitrous is alot of fun...

They both have their pluses...

With that compression ratio a supercharger could make past of the internals...

High Compression + Boost = Internals being Puked Out Of Your Block

same thing can be said about the nos = ) you dont have to have the boost set high with the supercharger. but if you are wanting something like nos there is an electric supercharger that can be put on the engine and it acts like nos. when i say "acts like nos" you can choose to make it go by a press of a button. (just like nos) instead of buying tanks you just charge up a battery that you can put in the trunk. or where ever you want.

The electris supercharger is a effin joke...It makes no hp...It does nothing if not impede the flow of air...

I hope you were joking...

And its Nitrous not NOS...

i still wouldent go with "Nitrous" it's a big waist of money. i think the reason with me saying go with the supercharger is i am a big fan of it and wouldent even play around with the idea of putting nitrous in the car. a lot of money for quick power. no way. and no i wasnt joking with the electric supercharger. you are probably right about it. i just found out about it the other day and only read stuff on a few sites (which all said it was good.) so sorry for that one.

Nitrous is not a waste of money...Seriously get your facts straight...

I can tell you Nitrous is alot of fun...For someone who is on a budget it is the perfect poweradder...

Superchargers are expensive...And are awesome...But On a low budget Nitrous is the way to go...

both are good power adders and both need a good tune to run right.
if you have the cash go with the s/c
if not go with the nitrous.

oh yea..

Thanks for your service.

and with 10.0 CR boost is not friendly, your best bet is nitrous it's friendly to all CR's...just not to alot of timing and that is easier to adjust than your CR lol

sorry, but you sir are "WAAAAAAAAAAAY" off. The myth about nitrous blowing up your motor is false. Under a controlled setting nitrous does no damage to the engine whatsoever. Those guys who blow thier motors with nitrous, they're the guys who run bigger shots thatn their motors can handle, or one that's too big for their setting, cuasing thier engine to run lean and produce detonation (an engine's worst enemy).

someone was saying i dont have the cam for a s/c or turbo, and i really dont want to get a different cam b/c this one is a custom one that was fairly expensive so for now i am probably going to stroke it to a 408. any advice with going that way? anyone have any idea what kind of power i would get from that? i knew a guy who stroke his 4.3 s10 to a 4.7 and he said he got about 50HP maybe but more impressive was the torque gain.

and if i change my mind and end up s/c or turbo, would it be alright if i just ran around 5lbs p.s.i. with the compression?

no. i was stating my opinion. and i know the nitrous doesn't blow your engine. but neither does a supercharger with the right amount of boost. chris was saying supercharger blows your engine and i said nitrous could too. you people said it your self nitrous could blow your engine if the shot is too high. same thing with superchargers. if you have the boost to high then boom. that includes you stupid nitrous. so i don't want to here it or you people calling me "retarded". so you sleepinggt, are the retarded one not me.

i would say yes but these people up there would chew my head off and say "superchargers suck. get nitrous" just watch. two days there will be more people quoting me saying i am "retarded or waaaaaaaaaaaay off." and before you quote me. he says "if i change my mind." which means not going to stroke it to a 408. if going supercharger or turbocharger.

All power adders have pros and cons. You just have to pick the right one that suits your needs.
