What do you think?
I'm completely new to nitrous but i wanted to put a nitrous setup on my car. I have a 2002 3.8L and it's COMPLETELY stock. I also found a kit that i can afford but i wanted to see what all of you thought about it before i bought it becasue i don't know anything about nitrous. I was going to go with a wet system and here is the link to the kit that i was going to buy.

Are you planning on upgrading the pistons before you spray it? If not you may be in trouble with too many sprays. How many miles is on your engine???

75-125 hp will be fine on that motor. Make sure you read the instructions and know what you are doing.

yeah hes right nitrous isnt really that dangeruos but people get greddy with it cuz its so easy to up the power so just dont be sprayin on every stop light and save it for the track only and you should be fine.

also nitrous kits have come a long way, now a days it seems safe to put small sprays on just about anything from your mustang to your dirt bike.

As long as you don't get greedy you'll be fine. Just follow the directions! Remember, nitrous doesn't kill pistons, people kill pistons.

My motor has a little over 70,000 miles on it. I wasn't planning on running anything bigger than a 100 shot in it. I figured to run about a 50 or 75 shot in it. What exactly do u guys mean when u say u'll be fine as long as you know what you're doing? Cuz to be honest with you i kinda don't. That's why i am posting.

what we mean is make sure everything is ok on your car such as new plugs gapped correctly, good wires, new filter, etc. Then add the n20 kit according to their instructions. Also don't be afraid to call the kit maker and ask questions. Double ck all connections, etc. THen as long as you use a safe setting, the 50-75 you want to use is ok, you'll be a satisfied nitrous user. \
nitrous gets it's bad reputation from people who want to use a 400+hp fogger on a 100k mile engine that needs plug wires, etc. then when it blows up, it's the nitrous that did it, not their stupidity and unrealistic expectations.

Air /fuel ratio is the secret to running nitrous safely...nitous for people who don't know how to use it is like puting a gun in the hands of a 4-year-old...it's funny for a little while, then BOOM! A wet kit is the only way to go...

I haven't heard anything about puddling...but then again I never paid much attention to the 302 setups. I haven't heard anyone running the 4.6 with that problem, but the long runner intake probably has a lot to do with that. I'm guessing that direct-port is out of the price range?

You have to take into consideration the jetting too...perhaps the fuel wasn't atomizing properly and not making it as far as the cylinders...NOS won't burn on it's own, but even a tiny amount of fuel puddling would screw things up pretty bad. Once the flash point of the fuel got low enough (being introduced to the O2 rich enironment), it wouldn't take much to light it off.

The problem comes from the fact that the intakes, especially the upper, are designed to only flow air. If you start injecting nitrous such that it travels into the upper intake, it will puddle.
Like I said, I'm talking about 302 and this guy is asking about a V6, but consider where the nozzle is placed as much as how big a shot you're running when you're trying to come up with safe configurations. |

just my 2 cents , but as someone who has had 4 different kits, a Zex dry kit is the safest for newbies, it is the easiest to hook up and it is the safest also
