Centrifugal S/C vs. Roots S/C

What are the differences between the two and which one is better. Also with the roots, does it come with a new intake or something like that because i want to do the PI swap in my 96 gt but was wondering if it would be pointless with a roots blower.

Roots FTW.

That's just my preference. I'm not thrilled at the idea that any power adder adds a whine to me engine. The roots style, twin screw supercharger won't make that same noise (although it will probably have it's own sound). Centrifugal is just too ricey to me. Not that it doesn't add power but it looks like an engine accessory. Who wants that shit?

I think the roots will get you more power soon, but eventually the centrifugal will make more at the high end in most applications. It all just comes down to the application and configuration.

def dont go with a roots, twin screw is far better. makes much more power than a roots blower. cnetri is good up top power. the kb will make just as much top end power as the centri will but it will have a lot more balls down low. full boost by 2000 roms is awsome but harder on parts and youll have bad traction problems

I have found that the centris make for faster cars in cars with simular investments, also the centri is much easier to hook up. One thing people dont remmember though is that with a built more you redline changes from 5800 or so 7500 or more, and in that range the centri is going to own the kb for a good 2000k rpm range - continuing to make power so long as the heads are right. IMO the centri is the best all around setup for a s/c, turbos are better in some respects but once you get into big number the centri comes back on top IMO bc lagg doesnt become an issue.

A car that doesn't come from factory with a roots or twin screw isn't set up for it. It can cause added stress to the crank bolt, thus shorten the life or your engine. But the low/mid-range on them is amazing. Smoky burnouts will NOT be a problem lol

Admittedly, the centris do look like an accessory, but it shouldn't matter, if making power, what something looks like, right? Right. They will make sick hi-end power. The only stress they add to an engine is the insides. But they aformentioned roots a screw will do the same...

IMO, I like the Centris, more so, a D-series from ProCharger.

100% correct on this. you wont be taking a kb blower past 6000 rpms because youll way over spin the blower
