stock vortech bypass

my stock vortech charger came with a plastic bypass, supposedly good for 14psi, I was wonder if I NEED to upgrade this immediatly or if it will work well enough to go for a little while - or do I even need to use a different one? It came with my kit - but Im planning on a 3.33 3.12 pulley - enough to put me at 10lbs at the intake

Plastic....no shit. I thought the Mondo by-pass was aluminum. Eek. I do trust what they build. Run it!

Will a BOV designed for a turbo work the same way as a bypass on a S/C'er?

On my Evo, I upgraded to a Turbo XS atmospheric BOV. The factory was a plastic resurcilating style. Max PSI was 26PSI in 3rd gear at 6250RPM... Then it would taper off.

thats the plan, i know somebody with the setup, hes running an open mini race with no problems, it just causes a rich spike - however turbo cars do that also, so its not like its unusual.... how did your BOV work on your evo, any idle or engine problems when it pops?.... probly just a back fire right (from being rich)?

DO NOT RUN AN OPEN ATMOSPHERE BOV WITH A PULL THROUGH SET-UP...

The maf will go nuts and you will be a very unhappy man...You would be purging metered air...

You can use a greddy type-s BOV and set it up for recirculation...I did that...But now I have moved onto a MIni-Race...

Go with the mini-race...

BTW I will be selling my greddy type-s with the piece to weld onto your intake piping when I get back from vacation next week...Shoot me a pm if you want it...I am running a Vortech T-Trim with a 3.4 RR pulley at 12#'s and the little bosch factory deal could not keep up...

Read the pm I just sent you...

Seriously switching the car to blow through is really not worth it for you...Just so you know you will have to get an all new tune becuase of the MAF placement...

I set-up a Greddy Type-S for Recirculation and will be selling it in the up coming weeks...PM me if you are interested...

Yeah, it was SUPER rich in between shifts. Terrible... I had a complete Injen intake on it also. I/C up pipes, open element filter, blah blah blah... That took alot of lower end, heheh, torque away from it. It would bobble once in a while at ible. If I had the A/C on and was at a light or tryin to make a very low speed turn, it would stumble a lil, But once it got underway.... DAMN!

Never had a backfire or anything. I had a full exhaust on it too. From the block back. Downpipe, cat-delete, cat-back, and a tubular manifold.

Tuned it w/ an SAF-C II form Apex-I...

You are releasing metered air when you go to the atmosphere if your car is not converted to blow through...Which means the MAF has already added the fuel for that air and you are letting it out...

My car's bov is not that loud...Which does not matter to me becuase my supercharger screams...

Just stay with the pull through and dont worry about the sound...
