Freezing my 10lb nitrous bottle

I was ganna throw it in the freezer so I don't have to wait at american performance to do it for me when I go to put nitrous in my bottle.

I can put it in the freezer right? And if so what do I have to do to it before it goes in... just take off the pressure guage?

i run cold water over mine when i fill it. i have a 15lb bottle and i have to freeze it every once in a while. it depends on how full the filling tank is, what ambient temp is like, and the pressure in the tank. a 10lb bottle will fill fairly easy as long as the bottle isnt really warm.

It depends on the temperature and the shop you use to fill it. Here in Orlando, just east of you, I leave mine in the car all the time. So of course it's getting hotter and hotter here. There are 2 shops I use to fill the bottle, and both usually keep them for a few hours, one of them even tried to keep mine over night, before they fill them. The one just leaves it in the fridge for a couple hours, but they have a pump on their fill station. The other place doesn't.

Nick, did you get the bottle filled yet? What about spark plugs and pulling some timing with your tuner? I'm getting anxious to see everything ready to go.

What kind of rinky dink shop are you taking it to that requires you to freeze the bottle? I used to refill nitrous bottles when I had my business. Nobody freezes bottles anymore. Don't these guys have a pump? People used to freeze bottles before pumps were around so the bottle will have lower pressure than the mother bottle. That was the only way to completely fill the bottle back then. A pump will fill the bottle full no matter what the bottle temperature is. With a frozen bottle and a pump its easy to overfill the bottle and then when it warms up you have problems. I've seen a few guys do this and rupture the safety disc. What does this shop use for a scale, a bathroom scale?

Well, last night they filled my bottle for the first time and they just chilled it briefly, but he told me that it was just because it was the first time. The price around here is $25 for a 10LB bottle.

I wish .. its anywhere from 3-4 dollar a lb around here .. Most of the shop owners around here are a bit older and pretty much all of them chill the tank for a mintue before filling .. I've never been to a place that didn't throw it in there before filling it up .. anyway .. i def. don't think freezing the bottle is necassary

I tend to chill mine in the fridge for a little while before I head over to my filling station. I know I don't HAVE to do it, but it's worth it to not hear the old man bitch about the bottle being warm when I go in there.

There is one shop here that doesn't have a pump, that's the one that freezes the bottle before filling. The other place usually just leaves it in the fridge for about half an hour. They have a pump, but like to chill them before filling anyways...

Nitrous here at both of these shops is only $2.70/lb!
