Getting rid of my shorties![]() I'm going to get rid of my ford racing shortie headers and put on a set of longtubes! I can't stop my headers from hitting my steering shaft when I turn right. I had my local Ford dealer work on getting my headers set right and after 7 hours of disconnecting the motor and trany to get things to work they gave up. I have a classic shaker and that doesn't let me move the motor much ! They told me that they will give me my money back. What is the best set up for my 07 Mustang gt with a automatic? Cats no cats? H pipe stock pipe or x pipe? What brand of headers I'm running a Roush axle back. Thanks Gary |

obx full stainless system, or the slp system. stainless or ceraminc of course. x-pipes are loud, h-pipes are deeper. the stock mid pipe is the most restictive part of the system.

I did it
I made my mind up and bought SLP longtube headers and Xpipe combo from RPM outlet . It comes with high flow cats.
Do I still need a cai seeing as I have a Classic shacker ram induction? I'm tuned for 92 octain with my SCT Xcal already, do I need to tune it for the longtubes and xpipe? |

You could have put a washer under the driver side motor-mount and cleared it...But with the shaker it would be silly looking possibly...
If you ahve the money Kooks is the only way to go... SLP is not bad at all either though...Best of luck... |

Yeah, good luck with the folks from RPM outlet... Pray that you don't get PVC pipes instead of what you ordered.
You could always maximise the hp gain with the tune for the new air/fuel ratio, specially if you were tuned with the shorties on premium fuel. Dyno is the way to go.

Thanks for the input
I have 4.10's Classic shaker, Ford racing shorties,Sct Xcal with a 92 octain custom tune. I'm installing a C&L cai and the Slt longtubes and Xpipe with highflow cats. I'm looking at a stage 2 cam at which point I'm going to Dyno my stang. What do you think? I'm trying to set up my stang for a supercharger. I DON'T want to be beat by a 2008 400hp Camaro!!!!! |
