High vs. Low Compression

Is it better to have high compression pistons with a twin screw supercharger or low compression? What about with a centri supercharger?

you want lower compression with forced induction. typically, lower for twin screw or roots type blowers than for centri blowers...

High compression = N/A.... Low compression= boost

each 1.0 compression drop (let's say from 9.0:1 to 8.0:1) you would be able to safely handle an extra 3 psi. of boost, as opposed to keeping your compression the same, if i remember correctly.

are you sure its that much? 8.0:1 or 8.9:1
cuz 9.0 to 8.0 is a noticable difference

k, so how much psi could a stock bottom end handle reliably? an not only that, but how much boost does a base model KB 2.2L s/c pump out?

it depends on what size pulley you opt for

first let us jus say that i stick with the supplied pulley. how would it be then? and if it would handle it fine, then what is the max pulley size that you think i could go with an still make the car streetable/reliable?

when you order a new KB, you have to tell them which sized pulley you want

what size would you reccomend cuz i wanna make a good amount of power but no so much that i chance crackin the block or have some other kind of catastrophic failure? cuz i heard b4 that stock blocks on a 87 lx can handle 400 hp whereas another thread said that they could handle 500 hp.

I think above 400-450 it just depends on your environment. Some people have successfully run 550hp on these for a fair amount of time. I believe general rule of thumb is over 500hp = borrowed time.

what cam would anyone reccommend for this set-up? i am not looking for something to lobey but still to wear it will give the car a distinct exhaust note and for it to work well with the trickflow heads and s/c. i've heard bout f 303, b 303, etc. but don't know what to get...
