NEED HELP with Intercooler.

Alright, I don't know if my intercooler is working. I tried running the car to regular engine temp and had my father hit the gas (to go into boost) but I couldn't get the fans to go on. I'm also pretty sure that the water/coolant wasn't circulating.

What I need to know is:
What triggers the intercooler pump to circulate the water?
What triggers the intercooler fans to turn on?

If you happen to have a similar supercharger setup, how high should the coolant be in the resovoir (for people with similar intercooler setups.)

Wish I could help you, but I don't know. I would assume the intercooler fans and pump would either operate all the time or when triggered by the IAT that the temp was high. Most likely though I would think they'd operate all the time. Try checking the fuse, best I can do to help sorry.

It was the fuse. Hard to find because it's inline and it's inside the fender (I clamped it so it's visable/accessable inside the engine bay now). Thanks again.

Intercoolers usually don't come with fans, you're thinking of radiators.

That's why (except in Subaru's WRX and WRX STi) they are mounted up front in the opening of your bumper (or below for an upward flow of air)

Once you get moving the airflow will generate the cooling effect which will effectively drop the compressed air's temperature.

But in your case, you actually have a fan mounted to the back of the intercooler?

Two of them actually. It's kind of like a radiator in that it has water circulating around via a pump mounted just above the foglight area on the passenger side. Water goes through another heat exchanger in the intake manifold (pictured in my fenderwell CAI post). Then it moves around to a seperate overflow tank which sits right next to my radiator overflow/fill tank. Water goes through a hose attached to the bottom of that back down to the pump and the cycle continues. It's a heavy indirect way of cooling the air since the type of SC i have isn't located well for a decent air/air intercooler setup but it can be very effective.
