ya thats what i think 2 i know it was dumb running 87 stock plugs and 2000 rpms hey i learned the hard way i just hope that the iac is the only thing fucked up

not too big of a deal, some of us 4.6 guys have blown out intake manifold. look on the bright side, what happened to you so far has been a cheaper fix.

you need 764 autolites those are 1 stepp cooler plugs
nitrous backfire is any nitrous owners worst fear
check your IAC that may be why your idle is shitty
probably just clean it with carb cleaner
if not send me $10
i have 2 IAC as my house

ya i changed my spark plugs today ibought them from advanced herethey r the guy told me they where a step colder plugs and i think there like top of the line well for advanced at least....

What plugs did he give you and what number are they? Cause it is easy to decode a spark plug wrong,

Your lucky though I have a plastic intake manifold I back fire i get pieces

ya i know i have an ebay intake and just the filter blew off lol but my iac is shit. heres the spark plugs i bought

If you changed your spark plugs to a step colder---how did the original ones look that you pulled out? When you have detonation, the plugs will show it.

You really need a window switch, activate it at to low of an rpm and a backfire will result. I had that happen to me a couple years ago.....

Always run good gas, a colder plug, adjust your timing accordingly, and get a window switch on there.....

ya i have a window switch and i put 93 in now but havent testedthe new plugs or gas. kinda scared...

but what r the spark plugs supposed to looklike becasue they where the origanal havent been changed since 99 ll but they where just all black and shit

If you had detonation, the plugs would have had some red specks all over the porcelain. If it was really bad, the electrode would be melted, like the picture below.

With 93 octane, a 75 shot, and a colder plug you should be ok now--but you also mentioned the car wasn't running right after the backfire--did you get that fixed? You definitely don't want to try it if the car isn't running right on the motor.

ya i thinbk its the iac but not sure becasue whenever i turn the car on it idles like shit like at 500 rpms and when i get on it somtimes first gear will run normal and when ishift ino 2nd it wants to fallon its face it boggs down andrunslike complete shit! i dunno if its just the iac or not?
