Exactly... My solid works model is getting closer and closer, but I still only have the floor and main halo done haha... But that consists of 15 bars haha

The car is gutted again... except for the dash and the wiring which will come out shortly. then the other cage can be cut out and the fun and games start.

Where the plates are, it will be a bolted flange with 4 bolts per side... just didn't show that in the drawing. I am still learning solidworks, this is my first big project on it, every other time its been build something super simple. So not everything is perfect but it will be a good model of what I am going to be building. All bends have been "bent" with a 6.5" radius as thats what a standard die is too.

150 MPH you're required to have 1 chute. At 200 MPH your required to have 2.

150 in the 1/4 or 130 in the 1/8 (which is retarded... I now have another 1/8 mile to slow down and im not even going as fast as the guy doing the full quarter...

Dual parachute is required at certain weight limits and certain speeds.

I've never seen anything about a weight, but it's 200 MPH

this whole build is awesome. i cant imagine how you felt whent he engine blew but at least you can still work on the car.

i have to ask though, why are you keeping the car streetable?

I like taking the car out and driving it around... About the only reason...

Got the first bend done...

Mom wanted a picture with my first bar!

Where im at now with an ice cream break!

Should have the floor done tonight, and tomorrow I can cut the old cage out, and the old subframe connectors off. At that point I can put the floor up agains the floor, and then Start building the main hoop!

Up date later tonight.

i take it you are drilling gas relief holes in the tubing to prevent mini gas pockets in the tubing...

Its about the same, I like that the moly is not as thick as the Mild Steel.

Cutting the subframe connectors off and I ran out of disks. I also took the fuel lines down and leaked a little fuel, so I am waiting for the garage to air out and then I am gonna go get disks. Got the drivers sub frame connector off, and like 3 welds to cut on the passenger side. Once that is off, then the factory fuel lines are gonna go in the trash finally LOL and the new floor gets to be checked to make sure it fits!

Once I know it fits, then I can measure the place for the 6C bar, and also finish welding the whole setup all around. Once its all welded and I have a 6C bar mocked up, then the main hoop is gonna be bent.

Well its gonna have to be changed because of ground clearance... hangs down too low, so the number 1 bar is gonna be re done....

otherwise it fit pretty well.

Done for tonight, and will start again in the morning on the new number 1 bar and then ill start getting the main hoop and a pillar bars done.

Here is what I have come up with.

I think im going to do the 30-120-30 bend to make my Number 1 bar now.

So in essence, my bend now is 7 3/8" from a flat plane( i know I dont have a flat plane completely though). So if I take the ratios:

7.375"/2" = (new height)/(1.125"), the new drop down distance is actually only 4.14 inches. So that is roughly 9/16s of what it was before, which is just a little more than half. I will have plenty of ground clearance like that.
