My Terminator Rescue Thread

This is going to be the thread for my "rescue" of my 2003 Cobra. I bought it on 6/12/2012 from a dealership in Austin, TX. Here is the story

My mom was looking for a new DD so she could park her Shelby and stop putting so many miles on it. She was interested in BMW's and found one in Austin at a small used car dealership that dealt with "specialty vehicles" such as WRX's, S2k's, Infiniti's, BMW's, etc. While browsing their site she saw this Cobra. She knew I had been wanting one, and told me about it. We checked it out when we went to check out her car. It had 126k miles and the paint was in very rough shape, but the interior was extremely clean and it was 100% stock! They were asking $15,995. We talked the salesman down to $12,995, working out a package deal for the two cars. Brought it home, and parked it until a couple weeks ago when I traded off my GT. It is now my new DD and I will start putting money into it to restore it to it's former glory.

Here are some pics, it is black with black and tan seats.

Thanks guys! It's just the angles and such I used to avoid the damaged areas lol. Here are some pics of the damage.

And one shot that shoes how it cleans up with some polishing compund

I've got the driver's side taken care of as far as the oxidation crap goes, but the roof is still pretty bad. I might have to find something slightly more aggressive for it

Seems very fixable! GL with it because you got a nice price on her. The only problem I could spot was the exhaust tips.

I am definitely enjoying it! I'm so grateful that I have a chance to own one of my dream cars. It is becoming my new baby, slowly replacing my Gt haha.

The back bumper needs to be repainted, the clearcoat is actually starting to flake in a couple places, but I think I can save the rest of it.

I spent $850 already!! On crappy things though. It overheated last week on the highway. Turns out the fan was shot and the intercooler pump wasn't pumping but now I have it back from the shop and all is well once more.

Oh also found out that it might not have the original motor. It's missing the plaque on the valve cover, and one of them has the wrong type of finish. Not sure how I can tell if it's original or not, but I'm not gonna worry about it

Since I won't have money for an exhaust for a while, I polished up the stock catback a couple weeks ago

Before:

Tip

During:

Finished:

No pictures on the car yet, its due for another wash today though so I'll snag some pics afterwards.

Lol its a project because of all the paint work I have to do...I also wanted to be able to track my progress Plus I haven't shown y'all the hood or the weird rock chips by the wheels. The motor also needs serious clean up

Thanks for all the compliments guys! The polishing was a pain lol, could've gotten it better but got tired of it haha. I has more pictures, but gotta wait for them to upload

In the meantime, heres a vid from when I had the exhaust off. This is the open (stock) midpipe.

Thanks for all the kind words fellas! I'm trying my best to take bring it back to life! Just takes time...and money haha, always money. And I loved the way it sounded open midpipe, I almost just left the damn exhaust off! Its too quiet, I thought it had died the other day at a stop light...couldn't hear the damn thing

Anyway, mod list right now (subject to change) will be:

1. Expansion tank-Mine got tore up when my fan gave out
2. Exhaust-Still not sure what to go with
3. Intake-Probably a JLT. Hate the short ones though, want a clean look so idk
4. Tuner and Pulley-No idea on these yet
5. MGW
6. Coilovers-Hated the lowering springs in the GT so I want to do it right.
7. Wheels

Also need to get the FTBR bushing kit for the rear before I get too crazy with everything else. I'm just really not happy with the power level or mileage right now.

And here are more pictures!

After the wash the other day. Much better than the rusty exhaust!
