Now I am SURE you didn't make said numbers up on purpose to deceive us. It was an honest mistake.
I have an 11 sec srt, and two friends with mustangs that run about the same. The srt4 has shot peened pistons, but i do think the rods are forged.
The SRT does indeed have forged internals. Not sure what is and what isn't. Yours is also not stock.
The stock block can handle about 400 HP. Not to get off topic, but i think it would be a drivers race, or depending on tires, etc.
Yup, that's what we have been saying. I've been talking to SRT-4 owners that say that it isn't. That he SRT-4 will "rape" the GT every time. He claims the 05-10 GT is a drivers race. Delusions...

I've probably been following Neons and the SRT-4 for longer than most of the kids on that forum even knew about it, let a lone own one. I love the car. No other car has as much bang for the buck as it (It's cheaper than the Mustang GT, or the GT would have that title)

Dodge could have REALLY cleaned up on that car if they had changed a few things.

1. Made it AWD or RWD. FWD just doesn't cut it with performance/race cars.

2. Gave a coupe option. I am sorry, Chrysler not giving customers the option for a coupe with their 2nd gen Neons really made me want to smack my head. SURE it was cheaper for them... but in the long run, they lost some sales. (I say the same about the WRX and EVO) Coupes just LOOK better.

3. Get rid of that horrible plastic shift ball that has a habit of slipping off. Maybe even have a STS instead.

4. Redesigned that gaudy and horrible spoiler. It reminds me of those toy cars that had spoilers that were similar so you could grab ahold of it to pull the car back to launch. They hinder rear window visibility and just look silly. The 1st gen Neon had a classy spoiler. It didn't look obnoxious at all.

It would have looked better with something like..



Also, those wheels are horrible. They again, looked ricey and obnoxious. American car companies should design their cars to look like American Muscle cars. Not Eurotrash looking cars that look like they come from a Transformer movie.

Again this is MHO. If Dodge had done that above, you'd probably see me buying an SRT-4 over a GT.

Ke^in you were removed from the srtforums because you were trolling 2 threads that dealt with mustangs. I am not the site owner either, AutoGuide is (the same people that own this forum). I reversed your ban and I am giving you a second chance seeing as you somewhat have a head on your shoulders (as long as you troll more then 2 threads). Not everyone on the srtforums has their heads up their asses, most actually have owned mustangs/other muscle cars or still do.

I myself owned a 1984 Mustang Notchback (86 front clip) with a fully built 331 stroker motor (which is currently in a friend '89 hatchback). Was a really fun car but unfortunately light rear end + bald tires + dirt/sand = fail lol. I have quite a few friends with mustangs, one just finished up a Vortec S trim install on his fox and another has a Saleen clone that is supercharged.







My current car is a 2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4 which is making 391whp and 366 tq. Full 50 trim .63 a/r turbo kit at 22/23lbs of boost. Custom 3" side exit exhaust with a resonator (that doesn't really do anything), soon to be Maxx Fab 3" side exit. I also have 32 way adjustable coil overs so that I can run a 26" slick once I get my hands on a set of 15" rims.

I agree that FWD is a bitch and sucks at times but that is what makes it fun. Getting something that spins (all the time) to hook is one task that makes owning this car fun.

HEY DON'T MAKE FUN OF MY WING! It is ugly, but I think the cars look like a regular neon when they are de-winged. Also the spoiler is indestructible.

1. Yes, I agree, but then the cost a few thousand more, and prone for more drive terrain issues(due to idiot drivers)

2.I love the four doors, my personal opinion is that the two door neons looks horrible, but that is just my thoughts.

3.hrm, I have not had the shift ball ever come off for me. As long as your not violently shifting should be no issues. I actually love the stock srt-4 shifter. The cobra has the MGW(best imo).

That is the Dyno sheet for the Cobra btw, lets keep the srt-4 performance discussion on the srt forums folks =/

13psi @ 7250rpm Original Vortech V-1 with the straight cut gears for tons of whistling for your enjoyment. Only bad thing is if the car is running, there is no way to bs that the car is N/A. However even with 4.10 gears the 4v is so weak down low.

One comment about the centri, after driving the srt-4 I have been won over that a turbo is by far superior. I can get full boost by 3k, but the centri is maybe making 4.5-5.5 psi by 4500 rpms in the snake. So maybe a turbo is in store for it.

Actually johhny the members there were trolling far worse than I was. Saying their SRT-s could RAPE Cobras etc.. that's just obnoxious. I was just being honest.

*shrug* all I know was I came in looking for info about used SRT-4s for my wife, saw the Mustang thread of SRT-4 owners acting like Stangs are POS cars and had to say something about the ironic nature of said posts. Nothing I said was trollish. I was just being honest about the situations. When someone new comes to the forum, and gets ganged up on by a few rude and trollish regulars, you are going to have to expect SOME smack talk here and there. I love the SRT-4. Always have. Been a long time Neon driver and owner. (Proud of it too) That doesn't mean I am going to lie and make up stuff just because I happen to like a car. Nor does it mean I am going to lie and make up stuff just to appease a handful of fanboys in a forum. :/ If that is trollish, so be it. I guess I'm a troll. Heck, even some of your own regulars were talking smack to the regulars that was arguing with me. Some of those guys were just being plain out delusional. Having said that, they are way better than the losers on youtube.

BTW that grey/silver SRT-4 looks just as good as the Black ones.. I just think you should remove the spoiler.

The extra cost would be worth it to me.

I heard about the infamous indestructible SRT-4 wing! I think it looking almost like a regular Neon would be a good thing. Sleeper.
One of the BEST things about owning a SRT-4 HAS to be the sleeper in it. The "Oh it's just a Neon with a body kit" people that poop their pants when you give them whiplash passing them.

I also like the fact that there are less SRT-4s around than Mustangs. I am trying to actually purchase both right now. Wife is getting the SRT-4 and I am getting the GT.

But we both can play with each others. We are married

Turbos are fun. But they don't last forever. And they can put wear on a car that isn't designed for one. That being said, I love the sound of them.

I have a black 99 Dodge R/T with silver stripes that I was going to sell to my Uncle..(he wants it for his son) But I might just keep it instead of getting an SRT-4. Just do a SRT-4 engine swap with the turbo and intercooler

now THAT would be fast.

For me it wouldn't flow right. I have however been looking at the PVO spoiler, its just a bitch because my car is custom painted and that means I would have to have the spoiler paint matched which costs more money LOL

Ah.. do they sell spoilers to replace the factory one? I loved the look of the 1st gen surf board spoilers.

See I love that my car stands out, the white cobra, actually turns less heads, it is almost more of my sleep car. I love when people see my neon and think it is pretty slow(its not fast, just decently quick) but most of the time I don't get a chance to race the neon for the fact that it is my commuter car, but it still can put a big grin on my face. With how orange it is I normally tell folks that at midnight it turns back into a pumpkin, and I am left walking.

From what I am told the swap can be more costly and time consuming, but if you have the skills and tools go for it! I have a buddy here locally that just picked up a 2004 blue srt-4 with 45k miles for 9500 clean title. I just wish I had all electric windows.

BTW here is a picture of my 98gt sitting next to my friends 383 lt1 trans man(yes trans man )

IIt's fast. I consider any car that is faster than the norm fast. Any car that does 14.5 or quicker in the 1/4 is fast IMHO. My 99 R/T was "quick" the SRT-4 is fast.

LOL! I just cringed when I saw it the first time on the old Neon boards.. neons.org I think? Yup that was my daily stomping grounds for YEARS.. I still love a good looking 1st gen coupe with a turbo setup

The main problem I am going to have when I move to the Stang will be size. The Neon can be whipped around traffic like a go-cart.

Being married doesn't mean anything There are actually quite a few srt owners that have kids and this is their daily driver................ lol
