Stock SRT-4 vs a Stock 02 GT 5spd

I am pretty much calling it a drivers race. (I am thinking about getting a SRT-4 for the wife) but they are talking as if Mustangs were slow.. (Well some are saying that..)

I have beaten a bunch of SRT-4's at the track. Only 2 gave me a good run, and they both were right on my rear quarter panel or up to my door. They are quick, but yea i'd have to say it, just like you said, it's a drivers race.

Most of the SRT-4's I ran against couldn't drive and would floor it and dump the clutch. I could hear the tire spin from in my car on a few runs. I did see a few of them run mid to lows 13's, but none that where stock.

I am no Neon basher by any means. When I had less money, and just wanted something cheap to get around in until I could afford something better, the 99 Neon R/T was a BLAST to drive. It was no Mustang GT, but it could do the 1/4 stock in 15.7-15.9 seconds. Which is decent for a 2.0l N/A 4 banger. The R/T models only came in manuals, no automatics. There wasn't a car in the same price range that even came close to out handling or outpowering it. I however wasn't one of those people that thought since my R/T was faster that a lot of cars on the road, it could beat anything. When the SRT-4 came out, I was stoked. For years people had been modding the Neon with turbos and the like. Chrysler had a ACR version that had pretty much no options, but koni struts and other nice add-ons. No A/C, no power anything. They are fun/peppy cars for the cost. The fit and finish and interior sucked though. Anyhow, the SRT-4 was a hot hot car for the price. I was actually thinking about getting one. Then I realized I could get a GT for the same price.. I want a RWD car. Not a FWD car. Plus, I am getting a bit too old to be driving a Neon still ( I know they say "OMG IT'S NOT A NEON, IT A SRT!!!" but it's a Neon with PT cruiser parts and a intercooled turbo. Still a nice fun car. Just like the 99 R/Ts was. I can't see how they bash on the Mustang GT, calling it slow, while owning a car that is about the same speed, with a turbo.. *shrug*

The GT's fit and finish is definitely superior to the SRT-4. They claim the SRT-4 is more easily modded.. But I say it's already modded from the factory.. I know they have upgrade kits, but still. There is just so much you can do with a 4cyl FWD car. You can get any car to run FAST, but how safely? I can get a GT in the 11s and still be street legal.

04 neon 230 +/- 5 to the wheels (proven many times over on a dyno) weight is 2,970LBS and the 04 mustang GT ABOUT 225 to the wheels by my math (260 @ engine subtract 15% for manual drivetrain) and a weight of 3006 lbs. they are very close preformance wise so im going to call it a driver race.

srt-4 specs are from my car and the GT's are from the intranet

I thought the New Edge was upwards of 3500 lbs???

hmm i just re-read the post, i didnt say which car would win i just said 2vs aren't slow buddy, so dont go out calling people ignorant for what seems to be nothing but your own confusion and misinterpretation

how in the world is that they run the same times??! i never said 2v are slow i simply said they are well matched and when raced it is a driver race. congrats on being a ignorant dil-hole

I dont know about stock but when i had my light bolt on 03 gt i had a friend with a srt4 with just freemods, stock boost, and a intake and i could walk him till around 60-70 where he would catch back up. From rolls i didnt stand a chance...

That post cracks me up, I had to make an account to negate some of their facts, I am just waiting activation. I browse that forum a lot since my buddy has a srt, but damn some of them are very very flawed.

They said a 500 hp GT500 could not run an 11.3, that makes me lol.

I think he means OVER ALL.. not just speed. The GT is over all, a nicer car.
