Convertible compared to a Coupe

I was wondering if anybody knew how much faster a coupe is than a convert. I raced my friends coupe today (he has the exact same year of stang I do) And ive put an intake and made it duel and his is stock. I beat him but I was surprised he was still as close as he was. Also I noticed he burns out when he gets on the gas and I dont even do that. I dunno I didnt really know verts where so underpowered.
