A 12 second s197 possible
Hey Guys what's going on, I have a quick question, and I know that this has been answered non-stop, but I would really like a honest opinon of what you guys think.
I have a 05 GT, and I would like to know is do you think my car is capable of reaching 12s or pretty close to that or what would it be capable of as this point? (mods are in the sig) I been taken to the track as of yet (1/8 mile) but I like to say that I'am a relatively decent driver. Any inputs or advice would be appreciated

I dont see 12's but low 13's for sure! Tires would help a lot!

I've posted this before but....
The car is NA has a JLT intake, 4.10's, BBK LT, stock tranny and axles. No nitrous, stock from tb to oil pan. Here is the rest of the info on this car: Project BOB 2005 Mustang GT Tech - CJ Pony Parts, Inc. The car has some mild weight reduction.

I wouldn't use those numbers for comparison because cars are generally 3-8 tenths faster at those tracks.

I don't get it. Cause the track has a low elevation and good air the times are not good? That is just stupid.

heres an example: a car goes 10.9's at Cecil on a good day, but 11.5's at any other track in the country, how do you call it a 10.90 car? like it or not, times generated at those tracks are usually not repeatable anywhere else. if the time isn't repeatable at will, anywhere, anytime, what good is it? you may as well make a time up & save driving to the track.

this is definatly a good read. imo this should be a sticky somewhere just to give an idea how much each bolt on mod helps.

Regardless B.O.B is a SOLID 12 second car no matter where you run it.

I drive BOB and I go to Cecil because its an easy drive, the prep is always good, and the elevation is low. There are correction formulas for a reason but I would rather run at sea level then run at 1000 feet and guess what could it do. The car went 11.99 in December at Cecil on bias ply ET Streets. I took it to Mason Dixon in May on Et Street Radials and ran a 12.08@113 and several other 12.1 passes. I could not get the car to 60 foot as well as it did at Cecil on the bias tires or it would have run 11s in 20 degree hotter weather at a completely different track. Best time at Beaver was a 12.4@111 and that was on the stock 17 in wheels all around with drag radials in the back. It's a solid low 12 sec car that has run in the 11's. To answer the OP's question the parts are there to run 12's with a decent 60 foot at any track reasonably close to sea level. Being that you are in Virginia there are several decent tracks in your area. Drag Radials should get you 12's for sure depending on your driving ability. Everyone thinks they can drive and drag racing is easy until they get to the track and run 14's in a 12 sec car. It takes practice. I threw BOBs keys to a friend and he ran a 14.2@111 with a 2.5 60 foot time lol

I have 4.10's JLT CAI and a 93 tune. My best times at Beaver Springs are low 14's on stock rims/tires. Anyway I think a S197 with the same mods I have and a good driver with good tires is capable of mid to high 12's no problemo.

1.95 60 foot 8.45 1/8 mile @ 82.98 mph 13.13 1/4 mile @ 106.66 mph and that was in July or August back when CJs rented the track out. Far from optimum conditions.
