Old School Or New School Mustang "Which Stronger"

Everyone always tells me that the new school mustang are strong then the 1988-1993 model mustang. I don't understang why people would say such a thing because my 1992 mustang gt spanks the mach 1s, svt cobras, and the new gts. I only mustangs that i can't beat is the svt supercharged. Basically i am bone stock with a cheap intake. Maybe i have a strong motor because i bought it from a old dude or the fox body mustang is just to fucking damn strong.

The 99+ Mustangs will spank the all the 5 liters, including the 93 Cobra. 260 hp stock compared to 225, the Fox's are alittle lighter, but are high 14 second cars compared to low 14's for the 99+. If you spanked a 99+ GT or better then you must be a good driver and they were very poor.

you must be racing people who cant drive. a bone stock pushrod car with a "cheap" intake is going to get "spanked" by any of the cars you mentioned....been there done that many times

hell, my v6 beats mildly modded 5.0's at the track. potentially, both are good starting points, but stock for stock, 99+ owns foxes all day long

Thers no way your beating mach 1's and cobras with just an intake. IMPOSSIBLE...from a roll, I ran even with my friends mach1 while I had 4.10s and an 80 shot. Bone stock motor.

I think your racing some bad drivers dude, you ran 15.1 if I remember correctly, which is awesome for your car, but my bone stock 5.0 went 14.4@95mph with a crappy 2.0 60ft.

i bet an '05 v6 4.0L mustang would even give you a run for your money, let alone talk about spanking new gt's.

I dunno about that, back when all I had was rear end/tires, the thing as a total beast off the line. For example.

I raced an 04, I belive it was, GTO from a roll and he killed me, came to a light, heated up my crappy nittos, and put 2 cars on him right off the line, took him until I was in 4th gear to be at my back bumper but by then I was on the brakes. I doubt a 4.0 would have given me a "run for my money" back then.

Now is a different story lol.

doesn't suprise me from the dig with the gear upgrade and tires against the ls1... but from a roll, i doubt he would "spank" the '05 v6.

the 05+ v6 ran 15.3 stock avg. at the V6FC in march. yeah ive only run a 15.025 best run (avg. at about 15.1-15.2) with a broken transmisson (shooting for mid 14s with my rebuild 4r70w). but again stock for stock, the newer mustangs make more power. you can, however, build a quicker 5.0 for cheaper than a new mustang...

I get allot of catalogs for mustangs and for the newer ones it seams that the mark-up is really high but that is just because they are new it was the same when the 5.0 first came out the fact that the fox body was out for so long means they have a huge after market

It must just be my mustang then because yesterday i race a white 2003 svt cobra and spanked him rolling and off the launch. It seem so weak for a svt cobra mustang. They are over rated and fox body are under rated. And really, i killed a mach 1 from a roll but it was an automatic. Dont know if that would matter much off a roll.

Judging horshpower is for non racer. Horshpower don't mean shit to be because it is unblanced. You have to caculate the weight with the power.

Your right, horsepower doesn't mean anything. Wanna race for $1000?

My 88 GT went 13.9 with stock 3.08 gears, a Hurst shifter and me behind the wheel. I'm not sure what 99 and up cars run but I know for a fact you are not going to beat a supercharged 03 Cobra unless he is boiling the tires off. You aren't going to be beating any mach 1s either unless the drivers can't drive.

Obviously the guy could not drive if you beat him with a mildly modded 92 GT. The SVT 03-04 Cobras are a mid 13 sec. car out of the box. The 1992 GT is a mid 15 sec. tops in stock form. It could have possibly been a 99-02 cobra but I seriously doubt it was a tenth anniv.(2003) cobra. And as for the Mach 1, 4v 4.6 motor I highly doubt that also.

Still not good enough to beat an 03 Cobra. No hard feelings just facts.

old school 5.0 are well capable of puling 13 seconds runs with a good driver some sticky tires and 373 all day and that is what made them so popular when they came out and actually they kept the new school muscle car era going
