yeah, stock they're no reason to wet yourself, but modded those things can be pretty nasty. a buddy of mine has an '05 STi making 500hp/499tq. his license plate reads I8URV8, and he's not joking.

I was talking to a suburu master tech awhile back. I was asking about reliability of the STI's (for kicks and giggles - i would never own one). He asid that they changed the engine mounts on them. The new ones are based off of another suburu (forgot which one). But anyways, he also said that all these kids that are buying the STI's are launching them at 4k rpms and the new engine mounts just can't handle it. Yay for imports!!! :award

There's nothing better than some good old, naturally aspirated torque. |

And theres a lot more force on the engine and transmission when you are trying to slam that power against all 4 wheels at once. It used to be their transmissions that would break.

they are designed with years of rally crossing at their heels
maybe in a drag race u can beat them, but remember, only here in america is drag racing actually important kinda like pickin on a baseball player cuz he cant block a 300 pound lineman |

Agreed - get your Shelby and that STi on an autocross/road course, especially in the wet, and you'll see your 200+ hp advantage disappear damn quick.
