Subaru Impreza's???

I keep being told how fast subaru's are with there AWD. That they can beat the 2007 cobra and they are just the quickest things.

Are they really that fast because everytime I hear this I deny that they are even that fast because I have never been in one nor seen one race.

yeah, stock they're no reason to wet yourself, but modded those things can be pretty nasty. a buddy of mine has an '05 STi making 500hp/499tq. his license plate reads I8URV8, and he's not joking.

I was talking to a suburu master tech awhile back. I was asking about reliability of the STI's (for kicks and giggles - i would never own one). He asid that they changed the engine mounts on them. The new ones are based off of another suburu (forgot which one). But anyways, he also said that all these kids that are buying the STI's are launching them at 4k rpms and the new engine mounts just can't handle it. Yay for imports!!! :award

There's nothing better than some good old, naturally aspirated torque.

Don't you mean Yay for Subaru's? My car hasn't broken a mount and its 12 years old ;-)

And theres a lot more force on the engine and transmission when you are trying to slam that power against all 4 wheels at once. It used to be their transmissions that would break.

they are designed with years of rally crossing at their heels

maybe in a drag race u can beat them, but remember, only here in america is drag racing actually important

kinda like pickin on a baseball player cuz he cant block a 300 pound lineman

Agreed - get your Shelby and that STi on an autocross/road course, especially in the wet, and you'll see your 200+ hp advantage disappear damn quick.

found my new fav. quote while looking up times too....

While talking about the Roush Stage 3 F-150.

His first question: "What's Roush?"

Apparently the name isn't as well-known as we thought, so we give him a little background on all the modifications. We point out the unique 20-inch chrome wheels and high-performance BFGoodrich G-Force tires. As he walks around the truck he's digging the optional stripes and side skirts, but when he notices that the hood scoop is pure decoration he scoffs and heads back to his SUV.

A few minutes later a slammed Toyota Tundra rolls in and immediately pulls alongside to size our truck up.

"Supercharged 5.4 huh? What's it run?" the driver asks.

Having track-tested the truck the day before, we tell him it'll do zero to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds and the quarter-mile in 14.9 seconds at 93.3 mph.

He breaks out laughing. "Is that all? Jeez, my mom's Camry will show that thing its tailpipe."

We shrug him off as a Toyota tool, but we check the numbers later and it turns out a V6 Camry would get the best of the Roush by a few tenths. Ouch.
