Tuned Stock GT vs Bad Tuned Modded GT

Do you all think a tuned stock Gt in good running order will out run a modded GT that is not tuned well. I guess I am asking do you think a stock GT can catch alot of cars that suppose to be fast slipping every now an then.

well, it all depends on the mods of the other car. even if its got a bad tune, it still might be making more power than your stock car!

I was looking at the fact that off the ford assembly line each car has its own personality. One car is stock and runs like it, the other is stock and seems modded.

I just want to achieve the hardest running stock GT around. I think that would be easier for me to maintain. Ofcourse, I will stay in the parking lot and off the track!!

lol it all definately depends. when I fist got my moded mustang gt it definately killed some stock ones before it was tuned. but tuning does really make a difference in the performance.

alot depends on the car itself and the driver. A good driver can make a world of difference. I was taught how to drag when i was 17 with a little modesty i can say i am a good driver. I beaten cars that had more under the hood than i did

any car can be beatin if its not tuned because thats going to be the problem with their car " it wasn't tune so it would run like shit" meaning really slow or shitty.

When you say tuned are you talking about a regular tune up. Or is there a special tune your talking about? I may sound dumb but actually just not to well informed.

basically i am talking about spark plugs, wires, ignition timing and so forth. if you have foul plugs or fuel pressure is weak or the timing is off or air filter is clogged and so forth the car is not going to respond as well or may have a real bad time starting or if the plugs are foul up they will only barely spark. its a lot of things but a really well tuned up car can be the difference. between for example 300hp and 400hp. doesn't matter if the car is stock or well modified.

Well right now my car is running great. Like I said earlier since I started to put in 93 octane my car seems to have more on the take off and better mpg. It went from 17-21. They said it was a waste of money but not in my book.

Unless your car is tuned for 93 then it is minimal at best...

The stock tune is for 87 octane...So unless you have had another tune put in your car then you really are not noticing much of nothing...

well its stock tune as far as i know. they guy who had it before was big into cars so he might have done something. but i do feel a difference. when i was using regular it seemed to kind of bog down in the front when i would take off in 1st just driving normal. and now i use supreme and it doesnt bog at all. about a month ago i installed a new clutch and drove normal for about 500 miles and then i started driving the hell out of my car and then one night alot of friends and i got together to race and i put supreme in it for the first time and ever since then its been running real nice. maybe that night of racing just broke my clutch in? who knows but next fill up ill us cheap gas and see if theres a difference or not

I'm thinking about trying the 87 I'm positive my car is stock. I'll keep an eye on the mpg and let you all know what's up. Also the take off.

What you feel is in your head. Your mind is telling you that the engine is making more horsepower and getting better gas mileage because you are using higher octane because that is the extent of the education you have on the subject. However, that is not how an internal combustion engine operates. If you put it on a dyno you will see that you may have actually lost a few horsepower versus the lower octane fuel. Same goes for fuel mileage.

Horsepower I can't argue. You may be right. Mpg I know it's not in my head I keep track of how much gas I use in how many miles. I started out with 17 mpg Then I used 93 and my mileage went 21 mpg. Now how is that in my head.

ya i was getting 17mpg with cheap gas but i havent driven normal since switching to premium. ill have to soon though lol. a tank last 2 days the way i drive. but umm it might be a mixture of fixing my y pipe which made my O2 sensor work because no exhaust was going to it and the newer clutch. but it definetly feels better than when i first got it. my friend with a gt even said it drives much better. but it could be a mixture of many things.
