02 gt vs. srt-4


This race was from a stoplight. I had my car for about 2 weeks at this point and it is the first 5 speed i've ever owned or driven but I caught all the shifts pretty good(chirped third nicely).

My only mod is a cai, and all i know about the srt is exhaust from the sound. We both take off hard from the light and it is dead even in first to the top of second and then middle of third he started to slowly pull on me and i let off at the top of third with about a car length between us. I know they are faster than my car stock for stock so i thought it was a pretty decent race.
What do u guys think?

i dont know i think it wasnt an SRT4 cuz it would have raped you badly, there fast and light, it was prolly an SRT 4 wanna be

What are you talking about?? Stock for stock it is a drivers race, especially from a dig.

Did you think those things ran high 12's stock or something??

You actually have a better chance of beating one from a dig as opposed to a roll.
Which of course is why RWD owns FWD.

Those SRT-4s have mad wheel hop from a dead stop.

Umm it was definitely an srt 4 I wouldnt mistake that. I agree with 94 cobra..it wouldnt rape me badly, they are not that much faster than a gt

how much hp can a srt4 neon handle before it blows? I've seen some cant handle over 370hp without blowing oil out the sides of the car

On a safe tune 500 is possible on the stock bottom end.But thats assuming it's got a very good tune.Most of them i've seen blow up after about 425-470 usually do to running it on the lean side.

I beat one from a dig before. Only mods I had at the time were O/R x and a catback.

I've seen 3 guys here locally upgrade intercoolers and turbos up to the 50 trims .. and all 3 .. boom within a few weeks ... one ripped his tranny out .. got a new one .. then the motor went .. the other two just went boom .. I don't care what any guy says .. eventually it will go .. its just like mustangs .. its like the luck of the draw .. some will take 475 tuned well .. some blow at 425 ... but I'll never try to push a stock block like that ...

and I used to love the look on srt 4 guys faces.. when i'd pull up in my full size silverado ... even from a roll .. spray and watch the 22's light up in a cloud of smoke .. then say .. wanna race fellas ... it was nice ...

mustang gt =i think 260 hp
and srt-4 = anywhere form 215 to 225 hp
plus turbo

either he had more shit doen to it
or he was a really good driver it should have stayed even or u should have startd to pull on him by about a car or so

not plus with the turbo its 215 to 225 if it didnt have it it would be a regular neon

i know they are rated at 230 but they put down like 220 to the wheels stock and they are lighter...

A .50 trim gives off to much under the hood heat.A t3/t4 would do just fine and give off much less heat.Their motors blew because of carelessness.You are right everthing wears out and eventualy boom.And i hope you not trying to get on my nevers by calling it a neon cause i call mine that just about every day.

The same can be said about the Mustang GT and Cobra...Without the engines they would jsut be mustangs...

i dont know where you got your info from but srt-4 numbers are 230/250 , and they are lighter then our gt's , they should start pulling just a little around 3rd , but with the right driver a gt could win
