LS1 dynoing under 300 are auto's, Ive yet to see a stick go under 300.

You slap heads and cam to an ls1 and you have a car, thats capabale of 450 easy.

Now to put the LS1 to shame is the LS7, that is the baddest small block ever built

forged titanium internals, dry sump oiling system, 6 bolt mains

heads that flow what aftermarket heads flow

just straight sick

its a great motor but at a hefty price, I would choose a blown 5.4L Ford over it anyday! Guys are getting over 1,000hp out of them with stock block

both engines are expensive, if i had to choose I would go with a 5.4 Ford and throw precision twin turbos on it, nothing on this earth can catch one and it is a stock block!

So running one in a 4.6 is basically pointless?

nope, 4.6 is a good motor... especially the 03/04 mach1's and cobras!

Mach1 and an LS1 is a drivers race
Cobra is always > LS1

Ive seen stock ls1's run in the High 12's and to be honest Ive seen just as many 03 cobras do that also, the mph was only off by 2 or so mph.

You find someone who can drive and that LS1 will be right there with an 03 cobra, stock to stock of course.

I got a friend with a procharged mach1, he gets rapped every weekend by our other friend with a 99 trans am, and the trans am only has intake, headers, exhaust and a 125 shot.

The Trans am, puts easy 8 cars every time on this mach 1, digs, rolls, upside down, inside out, its just ugly

obviously the guy in the mach1 can't drive then, but you can only boost a mach1 engine so much since it is at a 10:1 compression... you can only feed them about 6psi before it starts to get risky!

A guy at the mach1registry a long time back when i was registered there ran his stock mach 12.78 in the quartermile and had it on video... it was great! All the LS1 guys started going up in a flame war after that one too bad he sold the car and erased the video

yea a LS1 is going to beat you, even if you have alot of bolt ons!

remember he has almost 75 more cubic inches than you do and that is going through a 6 speed trans.

If you wanna beat a LS1, get some laughing gas.

You can beat one if you get some 4.10's full exhuast, intake, custom tune!

Not true. Thion about a z28 or a trans am without ws6 package, they only had 3005 hp at the fly in 98. I'm sure they put down less then 300 to he wheels.

its called the ls1 was under rated, Most 6 speed cars put down right at 300 at the wheels.

The ws6 and ss's that had the slp exhaust and intake would put down about 315 or with the intake and exhaust already on there.

I use to only hang out with LS1's and planned on picking one up intil the free mustang showed up.

Autos usually put down about 285 or so give or take.

Chevy built a great motor, the power curve just keeps climbing as the revs keep going up.
