67 mustang, engine options...
Ok, so I just got plain tired of the damn idiots hating on the 350z in the other post, Its a badass car, so I had to start something new... I just got my second sixties mustang, this ones a 67 coupe... got the paint and body figured out, suspension as well... All I need to figure out is the power plant. I was thinking along the lines of big block power or modern fuel injected small block. more specifically, the 428 cobra jet, or the 2003 cobra's supercharged small block... either motor would be built to about 550 horses. As of right now I am leaning more towards the modern motor due to reliability and driveability... But, I already have a 64 and a half convertible in the works with electronic fuel injected velocity stacks, so maybe some more classic power would be appropriate?? Give me your guys' thoughts on this...

03/04 cobra motor can handle 650rwhp on stock internals... all you need it a whipple or KB blower swap.
Hey, how did you go about bragging about your 350z and now you have an old mustang asking if you need to put in a 428 or a blown 281 DOHC |

I had a 05 saleen before the Z as well lol. Im not bragging about the Z either, I was simply arguing that the cas if stock for stock, the Z would have the upper hand. I have always loved the older mustangs though and have had the first stang since I was 15, got from my grandparents who had it in pieces in their garage for years. I just got this 67 from my buddy who is in the navy seals and just doesnt have time for the car anymore, nor the space... so dont get me wrong by any means, I love my Z car, its a fun daily driver, but the classic mustangs never go out of style... I wouldn't belong to a mustang site if i just owned a Z. I just happened to see that topic and thought it was kinda Ironic.

Well in that case, I always think that old school mustang should have an old school motor but and terminator motor in it would be cool as well!

Ok, If i am looking to put a 550+ hp race motor in a car, how would that not be under racing?? Because the car is from the sixties?? yeah, ok. And why in the hell would I ever want to descrate a classic by putting a japanese engine in it. Sure its a nice motor and all, but not for a muscle car. Just cause I have a 350z as a daily driver and like it, doesnt mean that I am a huge fan of the Import car market. I am definitely more of a mucle car type of guy, but older cars tend to be kinda lame daily drivers in teh rain and colder weather. I do live in WA.
PS: I HATE FAST AND THE FURIOUS. |

408 small block stroker?
there is a 67 coupe build by a shop called performance associates by me and the 408 small block stroker inside it runs in the 7's obviously its a full blown race car but a 351 is a great engine

well considering if you use an 03/04 cobra, swap a KB on it and turn it up and should get 500hp easy

Throw in a Navigator 5.4 motor and build the internals, then spray or boost it!

yeah, 7's are a little more rediculous than I'd really care to get. I thinking a low 11, maybe high 10sec car would be more than enough fun for me in a car like that. I was mainly thinking of the cobra motor due to the fact of reliabillity, and that the car would be driveable. Also, I have been looking, but as you all would know, those motors are very hard to come by, would any of you have a good source for one??

hahaha youre a funny man... But as a daily driver and im only talking 07 cars right now, I'd much rather have the Z. Everyone and their mom's got the new mustang... now if you're talking an old one, I'd agree with you for sure, not too many cars can out class a nice 67 mustang. bottom line right there, especially if its done up right... let me know about this place youre talking of, maybe theyd have a deal I could dig for a new motor... thanks man.
