and its a drivers rce for the v6 mustang vs v6 eclipse. i know...i raced a 3g v6 with my prev. v6 stang. won some and lost others.

old topic and post...but justa correction

up to '94 is gen 1 (eclipse/talon)

'95-'99 is gen 2 (eclipse/talon).
turbod talons are not signified bewteen awd or fwd. a TSI is the turbod model. ESI is the non turbo model.
eclsipes rs/gs are non turbo. gst is fwd turbo. gsx is awd turbo.

'00-'05 is gen 3
eclipse rs/gs is 4cyl. rated at 150hp/150trq (est)
eclipse gts/gt is 6cyl. rated at 200&215 hp/190trq (est)

i looked into them for awhile. and ex had a 3g. and we were both members of 3gforums/clubs. ima car nut.

Uh no. FWD is the worst launching platform for any car. The mustang should take the launch no questions asked.

no, a fwd will hook harder than a rwd all day long.

No it won't because when you launch weight is transfered to the back on the car. On the a RWD car it places the weight onto the rear wheels allowing them potentially hook better than anything. On a FWD car the weight is still transfered to the rear tires but they aren't the ones that put the power. Since the front wheels don't have weight on them they have a MUCH greater probability of spinning on a hard launch.

uh, no. fwd cars will always out hook a front engine rwd car. the wieght stays on top of the wheels no matter what. the intial transfer does not completely unload off the front wheels. there are a few reasons, weight distribution, torque #'s, hp #'s, etc. no matter how you look at it, a fwd has the advantage in a strait line.

So why aren't they used for drag cars?

depends on what all is done on the cars. i raced a few gtp's that pull me hard thru the 330. the fwd cars are all low on the torque and power side. if a fwd car had the same power #'s and close to equivelent weight on street tires, i will bet you anything that it will pull a street tire rwd car thru the 60 and maybe the 330. the last gtp i raced was pulling 1.8x 60's. just like if you were to launch on a wet road, who would launch better? the fwd.

Because they don't hook harder lol.

FWD sucks for launchs.. anyways I have a 04 v6 I raced a 03?? eclipse GT-S Raped it in the launch lost at about 60-on..

FWD cars are jokes for drag racing.. since you "THINK" all those numbers you dropped are important... low end torque, weight distribution, and typical FWD cars have high revving motors.. = RWD FTW..

some of you idiots may think rwd's out hook fwd's, but if you go out and get 2 equal as possible cars, the fwd will always out hook. hard to drag fwd's for different reasons cv's dont like to hold, boost lag for lots of them, no torque, etc. sports cars have a hard time planting torque, and will always have traction issues. street tire to street tire, no comparisson.
