Good GTO races?

I just wanted to here about some good GTO vs Stang races. I have raced a few stangs but nothing to exciting the best races for me were a modded 03 GT with DRs and a lightly modded 03 Mach 1 both very close races but I did lose to the GT one run when I missed 3rd.

my good friend ruben has a 06 GTO and we're always racing. even though ive only lost to him one time. from a roll, its a really good race. pretty close. he always gets about a full car length jump on me from the third honk and then i slowly, but steadily pull even with him and keep pulling away after that. from a dig, i usually have a car length on him by third gear. both of us run on street tires. those cars are damn quick for their weight.

have u ever ran a termi?

heres my latest run with him. i copied this from another topic i made a couple days ago. hes such a ricer

i thought yall might find this funny. like the subject says my friend with the gto is a ricer sometimes and it annoys me. our first race sat. night was from a dig. we both took off spinning and stayed pretty much even through first. he got a nose jump on me when he shifted to second. i started pulling on him good at the top of second and through third. i dont remember if i was on it in fourth. but anyways, i let out when i had a lil over a car length on him. then i hit the hazards to let everybody know who won and right after i did i noticed his hazards going off. we turned around and went from a 25 roll. his car is alot more of a challenge on a roll. i did the 3 honk, and as always he got real close to a full car length jump on me from the start, then i slowly caught up and passed him. right as my nose passed his he hit his hazards like he won. then when we got back he told everybody that he beat me both times. i dont know if he was trying to be serious or not but it kindof gets on my nerves. i can actually say i have never hit my hazard lights after losing a race to try to fool people like i won.

i wish i could log into my photobucket. so i can put the video on here. the site says my freakin password is wrong. well fuck photobucket!!!!

I'm kind of in the same boat. I've raced one LS1 and one LS2, both bone stock. I have seen more and more showing up in town lately, but I never seem to be in my car when I see them!

I really like the cars a lot. When they first came out SO many people were talking shit about the styling, but I fell in love. The hoods and exhaust tips on the LS2 really make them look good in my opinion. Plus, they have one of the nicest interiors I have ever seen in a mid-priced sports car like that.

That is exactly why I bought mine you just don't see alot of them probably because there is not alot of them lol. I think the total production #s were around 40,000 thats about a half a model year sales for mustangs! I was happy with the 04 GTO but not quite convinced but when I seen the 05 I fell in love! So many improvements in 05 bigger brakes better suspension LS2 of coarse(keep in mind the LS1 is an amazing power plant also), Sport appearance package which is even more rare and took many months for me to find the one I wanted. The interior is amazing I was really impressed because everyone knows how bad the grand am sunfire ect interiors are and I did not expect such quality interior. The fact is the GTO really only shares the badge with other pontiacs its 54% aussie and it shows. Personally I don't think you can get better bang for your buck.

There are two in my area that I've come across...a yellow and a grey. The grey one lives near me and we just can't seem to hit traffic the right way to have a go. I believe there are both the 6.0 litre. What's the easiest way to tell if there the 5.7 or 6.0? Hood scoop/vents?

Actually the 6.0s did come with the different hood, but that's one of the fist mods that a 5.7 GTO does (swaps hood). The best way to tell is the exhaust. The 6.0 will have two tips (one on each side) the 5.7 GTO cars just have a single exhaust tip coming out of one side.

Good points but also remember one of the first mods for the 5.7 GTO is also catback dual exhaust almost all the 04's in my area have aftermarket dual exhaust. With any mods it is usually hard to tell the difference but you will probably find out when you race them lol.

Yeah both these guys have dual exhaust and the scoops. Your right I will find out pretty quick once I get a chance to have a go.

well, if u come across one and race from a dig, and if the termi driver knows a lil bit about feathering the throttle, then expect to get beat by a lil over a car length at least. if u get a really good launch then u might be about half way of his car length. the gtos are pretty quick with their weight. the termi's just weigh a lil less. also challenge the termi to a roll race also. you'll have a much better chance that way where your weight wouldnt matter as much. my man with the 06 gto always get almost a full car length jump on me from a roll. and then i play catch up and pass him slowly. challenge one. it will be a GOOD race, trust me!

I definitely will give it a go if I run into one but I have not seen very many around so its not very likely. It is really weird actually every time I actually pull up to a potential race like a mustang or camaro or whatever it may be they never want to race. I think they either don't know what the GTO is or they think it is faster than it is because I very rarely get challenged. There is a place here in town that ricers and a few real cars lol meet up and race and that is the only place I can get a race. I will be getting my nitto's here in the next couple of weeks then my launch will be good and I will not be afraid of too many cars around here. I am really interested to see how a termi matches up on a longer race because I have not had any car run me down yet. Even the cars that have beat me I always catch and pass them in the long run. I especially like running down the EVO's the look on their face when I fly past them at 150 or so is priceless.

i love racing the evo's and sti's also. i know they get mad when they get a car length and a half on me from the dig start and then i catch up and pass them

ive only hit my elect. speed limiter(157) one time, and that was on the freeway racing my mans GTO. my car was a lil sluggish that night for some reason and i had to stay on it that long to get a car length on him. well actually i dont remember what speed we took off from but yeah that shit was stupid. my brakes were screaming trying not to miss our exit.

raced a 500+ rwhp gto

first race was a fluke, didn't know when to go...

the rest of the races I would always get a slight little jump then he would get ahead by a couple feet, towards the end of the RPM I would start to catch up even and a little past him, then he would miss a gear and byebye

he had alot of boltons and nitrous, I have a 7psi turbo and alum drive shaft
