I've heard E85 is just a huge joke...

really isn't doing anything but raising food prices...

I'd rather get the chevy volt... 40 miles without a drop of gas!

E85 has a lot less energy per gallon than gas, but it has a really high octane rating.

Soooo... you run on E85, boosting the holy crap out of your engine, and you don't have to worry about predetonation.

And 40 miles? whup-de-crap. Tesla Roadster can go 250 miles on a charge, and the Ronaele Electric Mustang and Cobra can go ~100 and ~200 miles per charge respectively. And all three of those do 0-60 in under 4 seconds.

the tesla sedan, due next year, is said to be around 30k. the sedan uses all the same tech as the roadster but with a different body

How cheap would a gasonline engined car have to be for you to buy one with a 40 mile range? I wouldn't pay $600 it.

Or is the Volt a hybrid?

3.2 is the 0-60 on the Electric Cobra, too.

no it's not only 40 miles, it goes for 40 miles on only the battery.... then after the 40 miles, a turbo 1L 3 cyl gasoline engine kicks in, and not to power the car, but to recharge the battery, so it gets over 100 mpg when it does actually use the engine...

it has an estimated range of about 640 miles

nothing great, but enough for people who want a nice car that is great on gas, and for 20-30k

160 hp/236 lb-ft

0-60 in 8 seconds

nothing great, but looks good and is a great car for people who need to get around, not for power... saves more of that oil for us muscle car fanatics

I dont know this for a fact but a friend of mine who knows a bit more about engines than me tells me that ANY car on the road can run E85 up to a 50/50 gas mix. He says to go 100% E85 it costs like 400 bucks to change the various hardware that needs replaced. He is so SET on E85 he is actually in the process of building his own still. Acording to him he can make E85 him self for about 78 cents a gallon. Was told that using this stuff your mileage will actually drop cuz it takes more E85 to do the same thing as gas... but when gas costs almost 4x as much... Hell if this shit really works?! its a no brainer for me!

Umm... E85 is already mixed with gas. It specifically means that it's an 85/15 mix

ya to run home made bio desiel u have to do things like bigger injectors, new fuel lines (veggie oil eats the stockers) and high performance filters

To make E85 is almost just like making corn whisky or moon shine as we call it here in the south. There is just minor changes in making the 2... This part I know for sure. My uncle used have a still for moon shine. Thats some potent ass shit too!
