Explain how subframe connectors help traction, The sway bar does essentially the same thing by making the car more solid, but I see many people deleting it because it allows the car to twist off of a launch instead of being solid and blowing up the tires everytime.

I know this is an old thread, but Ke^in revived it, so I don't feel bad addressing this.

Sway bars do NOT make the car more solid. What they do is make the car resist roll, by tying the vertical motion of left and right wheels together. They add spring resistance against having the wheels at different "ride heights".

No matter how much swaybar you have, you're not resisting chassis flex. SFCs resist chassis flex relative to the chassis, swaybars resist the chassis "flexing" (in reality rolling) relative to the wheels. Any energy that's being used to torque the chassis out of shape is torque that's not being applied to the ground. However, if you retained the swaybar, when the chassis rotated (due to engine torque), you would lift a wheel off the ground, and reduce overall traction.

Ever ridden a hardtail mountain bike, then gone to a full-suspension bike? Same thing. As you pedal, more of the torque you apply with your legs gets to the pavement with the hardtail as you're not using it to flex the suspension.

Sorry about reviving it... I am going to have to look at dates a bit better. My apologies. Having said that, what I said was true. It does have a ton of good info for newbs like me.

Oh, I wasn't complaining about the thread being revived.

Honestly, I'd rather see an old thread revived than a new thread posted asking the same question we've all seen a hundred times over.

I'm glad you found it informative, Ke^in.

I've been reading a ton of old threads today because I had a lot of extra time at work. Learned a lot of stuff. Tried not to post to any that were old. I think I'll stay out of youtube for awhile. No matter what video I see, there are a bunch of GM bow-tards there pooping on teh party. I never understood that. I like Vettes and Camaros too. I simply want a Mustang more. (Well I can't afford a Vette ) I was actually thinking about buying a 2002 Z28, but i HATED the interior and over all feel of the car. Even if it is more HP and a bit faster than the 2004 GT.

So true....I hate it when people post new threads that would ovbiously be in the search...Like "what mods do I need for a turbo" or "Post pics of (insert car here)."

Okay, that's kinda sick, going to have to dig for that article, see if it has pix.

You try to burnout too long on regular street tires and you'll end up with racing slicks before long. The tire really doesn't take long to heat up, imo...
