Ideal Shift Points---Advise!


Hey guys, I have an 05 Gt, Vortech supercharger, 4.10 gears, LT Headers


What would you guys say are the ideal shift points for drag racing?

I usually shift around 6, and i thought i might even be short shifting a bit, but apparently i might be wrong?

What do you guys suggest?

get it on a dyno and see where it makes peak horsepower, and where itmakes peak tq... then make it so that you shift when you are near peak HP and drops down towards peak TQ

Look at the dyno and ask your tuner. I usually shift at 5500 and powershift when I'm racing or at the track. You can't go too wrong shifting at 5700-5800rpms

shift at max power, typically 6300-6500 on a 05 Vortech

I have my shift light set at 6200-6300, so I'm probably shifting around 6500

well +1 but,
I would do that except shift a bit later because unless you are powershifting (not really worth doing all the time unless your goin for money... for obvious reasons). Why is self explanatory.
