Extremely disappointed with Brenspeed

I bought a used CAI and SCT X2 at a good price last week. Based on the recommendations of many people online, I bought an email tune from Brenspeed last thursday night. In my purchase I made sure to include all the necessary information so that they could make the email tune for my car.

Very simple tune: Mustang GT with axleback and CAI.

Fast forward to this morning: Order status "still being reviewed". I go to bamachips and I see that not only are their tunes cheaper, but they have a 1 day turn around. Frustrated, I email Brenspeed customer service asking them why I had not received any contact or update regarding my tune, and why it was taking so long.

While I get a fast response from their service agent, I get an answer that isn't exactly very appealing.

"You should have received a tuning email requesting your cars info so that we
can make your tune. So I apologize if you didn't receive that email I have
enclosed it below. We have a 5-7 business day lead time on all custom tuning
do to the volume of tuning we do. I have your order in front of me and it
appears you have the info listed needed for your tune. Please expect for it
to be emailed between the 6th and 10th. "

I mean seriously? 5-7 business days when the rest of the industry is cranking them out in one day for cheaper? Not updating order statuses or sending out emails to keep your customers informed? It says on their website "after you place your order we will contact you."

I'm never buying another item from Brenspeed ever again.

I ordered from Bama, VMP, and Tillman, bama 1day, tillman 3 days vmp 1day... But maybe they do things differently. not a huge wait though but i understand maybe you have the part sitting on the car and need a tune right then and there.

This is not anything different than any other tuner. Some times a tuner can crank one out in hours and some times it takes up to a couple of weeks. Mike Troyer of Troyer Performance has a lead time of 12+ weeks.

And brenspeed tunes have alot less problems. They are something like 95% dead on or some shit like that.

Brenspeed does alot more than just tuning,...keep that in mind. I trust their tune would be right the first time. I am not saying other tuners would mess up but I think brenspeed gets busy due to installations, scheduled dyno tunes etc. Sorry you got frustrated with their time frame.

They say on their site for 1 day turn around you can pay an xtra $49.
I have not seen one tuner not have some kind of problem from somebody on these forums. You wonder sometimes if its an arch rival out to down another tuner to drum up business. They all seem to be from newbies. Not saying the OP is but its just funny how this happens every so often.

VMP took a little longer than i expected, but it was worth the wait. sometimes it just takes a little longer than you would like.

No I've posted here before - I have no affiliation. I just find it ridiculous that they not only charge more but take longer, all while seeming not to really care about CS.

It's a canned email tune - it's not like I'm asking them to tune for serious mods.

Customer service is the name of the game. It's not like they are offering a blatantly superior product. One bad experience is all it takes to turn me off from a company, especially when there are other alternatives. You would think in tough economic times like this they would be more concerned with keeping their customers satisfied, but it does not appear to be that way.

Brenspeed does take a while on turn around and their customer communication during that time frame is lacking. It took them a while to ship my CAI and tuner out, I know for a fact that my anxiety would have been substantially lower had they had a more detailed status screen. Maybe they just don't care if their customers are impatient? Stupid way to do business these days... it gives customers the idea they just don't give a damn.

That said, no problems with the tune and everything works great.

If you want fast and cheap paypal me $20 and I will send you a tune within 30 mins... When you go to a nice restaurant do you complain because McDonalds gets you your food faster than the steak you ordered from them?

Calm down... I know it sucks waiting but your waiting for a better product.

lmao - better product? Really? Get real dude, it's a canned tune - there are multiple alternatives out there that are not only cheaper, but have a better turn around time. That's why I am upset. When you have similar products, you have to compete with service and price. Brenspeed failed this one pretty hard.

There's literally no way you could sit here and tell me that the brenspeed tunes are any better than VMP, Bama, etc.

95% more accurate? LOL

I can send email tune results from myself (Tillman Speed), Bamachips, VMP Tuning, Eric Brooks, etc. They're all cars that were email tuned, and spot-on horsepower, torque, and air fuel ratio. Plus timing datalogs, etc. I can tell you accuracy is not a question with any of the companies I just mentioned.

Email tunes from any reputable SCT dealer should be similar in performace , turn around time , adjustments after the initial tune and communication are what keeps customers happy ...........

I believe an informed customer is a happy customer even if they are told up front it will be a wait on the tune ..

I think the OP just wanted to know someone was working on it , but I think he wishes he had went with someone with a faster turn around time after the fact

Customers should get input from others before spending money IMO.....

We all understand not wanting to wait for a mod to come in but 1FF knows his stuff. A tune can make or break a car. Just ask anyone running boost. or heavy mods. A good tune is an absolute requirement. Would you want them to rush through making your tune and risk a mistake? Is it really fair for them to rush your's just because it's for a car with less mods than someone else's?

Just try to be patient even with the lack of customer service, but definitely let us know if you have a problem with the actual tune.
