I was cursed at, insulted, and degraded at O'Reillys Auto

I was cursed at, insulted, and degraded in front of the the ORiellys staff, including a manager, and fellow customers

I went to O'Reillys auto parts in Hinesville, GA to get a part for my car. I found the part to be cheaper from several other locations, but since Ive been going to O'Reillys for a while now, I took the better pricing for them to price match.

Since I walked into the store, the problems started. I saw Jay, the employee who orginally ordered the part for me, and I greeted him saying hey whats going on friend! In turn Jay the employee responds, "Im not your friend." So I say "ok, can you please go get my part then." He returns with my part and sees I have the pricing sheet from Advanced Auto. Jay, the Oriellys employee says "oh no, Im not here to run your scam. He looks it up on his computer and says "Ill sell it at $95." I say no, the price at advanced auto is $78 and some change. He starts making a fuss about trying to help me, begins cursing, and then goes to accuse me of trying to scam O'Riellys and rip people off, stating that he (The employee at ORiellys) is going to be an "a**hole" to me and refuse me service.

This continues on, and Im not saying anything, and he go gets the assistant manager, who attempts to fix the problem. After the manager tries to fix it, he decided to not price match the product, even though advance did confirm the deal is legit and I am not scamming anyone, the manager attempted to sell it at full price at $110. I told him to either price match it or Ill buy it from Advanced Auto.

While the manager and I are talking, the other employee, Jay, is continuing cursing saying "screw him, hes scamming us, Im not helping that "a**hole" out," and continues to say more, while other customers are there and there is about 5 other employees working. Noone said anything to him or attempted to stop him. At the end of it all, I did not buy it and just walked away.

After leaving, I called O'Reillys Headquarters complaint office. I told them what happened, and they just said they will contact the store manager. They did not even take my name or phone number.

As much as I wanted to jump that counter and beat the crap out of that d-bag, I just shut my mouth, left, and filed a complaint with O'Reillys HQ, the BBB, Ripoffreport.com, the store manager (which I doubt will do anything), the Military Disciplinary Business Board on Fort Stewart, GA, put bad reviews on Yahoo, Google, FB, and the O'Reillys FB page also. This isnt the first problem I have had with them, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back and gave them a second chance. Now I am officially done with O'Reillys.

So, I ended up buying the part I needed from another online store for $60 bucks shipped. My part will be here Monday and no need for a core return. Cant beat that.

Tip of the hat for keeping your cool, I always tend to go to Advance. I'll keep it that way.

In all fairness u shouldn't have inconvenienced him by wanting a part. And how dare u take advantage of an advertised price match guarantee.

This guy is prolly just pissed off at life and how bad he sucks and had to take it out on someone. Luckily u walked in the door and could be the target of his misguided anger. What a douche! - but props on not stooping to his level.

I don't blame u for writing complaints. I work in a heavily customer oriented business and I can't stand when I get treated like crap in other businesses. Who knows, maybe they will send u a coupon for something.

Good job keeping your cool, I know it's hard in situations like that. I personally don't buy from O'reillys often, I generally go to Advance Auto. Although I have been to 3 different O'reillys and never had any problems (the last one I went to, the guy helping me really wanted me to just rent the tool I was buying to save me money). So I can't say I've had a problem with any that I've been to, but I definitely wouldn't go to that one. They're in a business that relies on customers and when you treat your customers like shit, your business goes down the drain fast.

I own a parts store and one f my guys would have been fired on the spot, and most likely in front of you, God and all the other customers. Like was said before that is an advertised deal with them and for him to go off the handle in my opinion is completely out of line.
good on you for keeping your cool and being the bigger person in the situation.

Yeah.. I got an update today on this situation. The assistant manager who was in the store and saw what happened straight lied to the store manager. They said I was the one cursing and yelling, so I told him to go ahead and pull the video feed and see whos lying, but they just so happen to not have the cameras working. The store manager happens to be my roommates friend (not to mention my roommate used to also a manager there, but he also left due to BS in that company) and there have been tons of complaints about this same employee doing crap like that.

Also kinda funny, I went and posted the situation on O'Reillys facebook page, not only was my comment deleted, I was also removed and blocked from their fb page. Also, the email that I recieved from O'Reillys HQ has magically been retracted from my email! From what Ive seen, O'Reillys has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I told the store manager that I have made this one of the top things that I will deal with, even if it comes to me e-mailing HQ every day until they get rid of that trash staff they have there

The problem with huge companies like that is no matter how much advertising they do, they don't really care about the customer. When a customer walks into a place like that the company and the staff see nothing more the a wallet. Your no longer a person, but instead a cash dispenser. People don't seem to understand that customer service has always been a very important aspect of a retail business, and in this day and age without customer service you have no business.

I swore off O reilly's when I walked in and asked the guy if they had any fuel line wrenches and he responded " What's that? " . Yeah, I have not felt the urge to go back to one since. I'll stick with Advance as well.

I gotta say, when I was stationed there at Ft Stewart, I was always checking out different prices at different places. All in all, Advance Auto Parts on Oglethorpe, next to the theater, was the best. Great staff, very knowledgeable, and the kind of people you actually become friends with. Every time I walked in there, I was greeted by name and with a handshake. I would suggest going there. Tell me, at the Autozone on General Screven Way, is the guy with the Batmobile van still there?

gf works at autozone but even before they treated me pretty well. i got a job offer from the manager at advance around here from where she comes into our gas station if i didnt get paid 12$ and hour and was a manager at the station id have took a job there. she said id have started off at 8$ an hour and blah blah blah. but i have found people at advanced and autozone to be knowledgeable and polite. the one time i went to orieleys in mansfeild the staff was kinda staring at me the whole time (empty store) and then told me they didnt have the cobra brake caliper they said they did. went to autozone up there and they did the same thing (they actually got a call from the district manager though since jess knows him) then we went to advanced and they actually had it.
the best experience i have is with napa but thats only because i have a store account with them
