BB & T racing.....most horrible customer service ever...


Three months ago I decided to use Derrick and Dennis to build my 347 for my mustang. Ive known them for several years and their reputation as a machine shop has been nothing but positive.

They did tell me up front that I was looking at an 8 week turn around time to have my engine built. I agreed to that and to their credit, at week number 8 my engine was done and I picked it up. when I hired them to build my motor they agreed to dyno tune the car for me. (Looks like I should have confirmed that they actually meant at sometime during 2007)

Three weeks ago I get a call from Dennis. "hey man, get that car to me and we will try to get you done this week" well, that call was at around 9:00 A.M. and he had the car by 10:30 A.M.

I never got a call from him once during the week to give me any kind of update on progress or what was being done. On Friday I called and asked about my car. His response "No man, weve been busy and havent even touched it"



so I say....."well, any clue when it might get done"
his response......."we should have it done next week and if not, by saturday or so"

ok. no problem.

so I wait untill the following week on tuesday and call them (they definately havent called me at all at this point)

"hey dennis, any news on my car"

his reply......"well man we had two cars come in from LA over the weekend that I didnt know about and had to stop and do those. I will let you know something by the end of the week"

(not sure how he didnt know about those two cars when me and two other friends of mine knew about them.....but I guess thats another thread)

so friday rolls around and of course.....I have heard nothing from the brilliant minds at BB & T racing. so I call and talk to Derrick.

"hey derrick, any news on my car?"

his response....."well im working on my dumb *ss brothers piece of sh*t race car trying to get it going so its going to be next week on yours"

HOWS THAT for customer service. spend nearly 12k and get put on the back burner so they can go racing!!!

I say......"well I just want to know man. If you cant get to mine thats fine, I will just come get it and get someone else to tune it"

he says "no man, I will get you done next week"

which brings us to TODAY............

I call and get Dennis (the master of customer service skills) on the phone.

I say "hey man, any word on my car?"

he says "well man its running but hes still got some adjustments to make" (it was running when it got there....so I guess thats customer service code for.....we havent touched the damn thing yet)

I say......"well man any clue when it might get done"
his response "well these things dont happen over night ya know"
my response "well they dont appear to happen in three weeks either"
his response....'well feel free to come get it"

my response...."no problem"

Theres a flatbed on the way to get my car as I type this.

The bottom line is this........I spent
9,800.00 (long block, clutch, flywheel, waterpump, and build fees)
1,500.00 (ceramic long tubes, x pipe, cat back)
250.00 (rear control arms)

and for that price I got DICK for customer service. I got the run around. I got treated like an idiot.
these guys were never once worth a damn at keeping anyone up to date about ANYTHING. I paid them in CASH for everything I bought and for spending that kind of money, I was treated like complete sh*t.

I have no idea how these guys have grown their business to this point if this is how they treat their customers.

not to mention that now I get to go spend 500.00 on a tune that THESE GUYS TOLD ME THEY WOULD HANDLE.

Like I said......I suppose im the dumb as for not asking if they meant they would actually get it done THIS YEAR.

If you are in the Memphis, TN area, I would highly recommend you stay away from these guys. I would have been just as well off ordering an engine over the internet and probably would have actually saved some money.
