Hi, I will be moving to Lillington, NC in Harnett County most probably in about 3-4 months. I may be required to commute to Raleigh on the weekdays.

I have many questions about owning a Stang in NC.

I have been told that Harnett County doesn't require emissions testing, is this true?

I will be starting on with Raleigh PD so I'm not too worried about cops but either way how are they about modded mustangs out there?

Does anyone know of any good shops (tuning, as I do my own install work usually) around Harnett County, the Triangle or inbetween?

How is the theft rate around those areas?

And finally I will be driving the Stang cross country from the San Fransisco Bay Area so if there is anything local to me that you guys may not want to pay shipping on let me know I may be able to transport.

Most counties in NC check to make sure it is present...mostly if all your emmisions are hooked up and your tint, lights, and tires are good you will pass......some places are more through than others.....but as far as tuning look at pro-dyno in charlotte...they are the best around...

oh ok, well I did some research and the best I could find was that Harnett county shops are set up for OBD and safety does OBD include the sniffer or is that a different test? I checked around but there's no way I'll get to all the counties to find one that includes emissions (if that's a separate test).

Also I've been told that raeford isn't far from lillington especially when fayetteville is the closest city for anything beyond walmart and a gas station so when I get there would you be interested in grabbing a beer and talkin shop?

are there any other north carolinans on this forum?

im from raleigh and im not sure about Harnett County but nc dosent use a sniff tester we just do a plug inso if your check engine light isnt on you will pass the obd inspection so if you dont have cats its just finding a shop that wont say anything. i work for aaa car care center on the corner of cary parkway and chapel hill road in cary so if you need anything just stop by ask for scott be glad to help there are a couple of decent shops in raleigh cant think of their name right now but ill get you their web site in a few. auto thefts aren't bad in raleigh but that also depends on what part of town you are in and the cops arnt to bad on the mustang guys as long as your not acting like a jackass hell ive never been pulled in my stang but been pulled twice in my honda and thats in the last 6 months

Also there are plenty of modded stangs around. There is a guy with a SN95 saleen with a 5.4L twin turbo roaming around and a lot of cobras.

Hey guys thanks alot. This forum is miles ahead of all the trash filled Honda and Nissan forums I used to frequent.
