I can't watch the video, it won't work for me at work... I was going to say hook it up via the IDE cable.

Do you have sensitive stuff saved on it? I wouldn't mind taking a look at it, I've recovered hard drives before.

If you mean opening the hard drive itself up, then I don't think you're at a point anymore that it can be recovered. If you're just talking about the external case, it looks like you've already done that.

If it were me, I would remove the hard drive completely from any kind of external enclosure, then put it inside my desktop via IDE and see if I can get my device manager to recognize it. Sometimes it just needs another computer to do the job. If you want I can try it sometime, but you would need to provide another hard drive for me to transfer the data to if I can get it running long enough to do so. Or, if there's under 4.7 GB of data on it, I could burn it to DVD.

It should. Any external hard drive enclosure you buy at the store just has a normal hard drive inside, with power, IDE/SATA, and jumpers.

I have been able to save data from taking the master drive (c:\) and putting the jumper to slave and putting it on a diffrent computer. but thats about as far as I know about data recovery. I have heard of programs that can recover but I have heard some of them have problems.

Setting the jumper like you described is what I have done in the past to access the drive. As far as software, I helped a friend recover files from his laptop after a virus systematically wiped out most of his hard drive. It's basically an "un-delete" function, as all of the files that you delete on a computer are actually still there, just the "markers" that point to it are deleted. You have to use a program to actually wipe the the file to completely delete it, as it will actually write data over the deleted file so it cannot be recovered.
