Moving to Phoenix Need Advice

Just like it says I will be moving to Phoenix this summer and need some advice. First off where is a good place to live? I know a lot of you live in North Phoenix so what areas are those? When I lived in So. Cal I used to go the the Fun Ford Weekend and also race PSCA so I have been to Chandler and love the area there but its a ways out of town. I like the fact that there are two race tracks in town and So. Cal isn't that far away so I can continue racing. Plus I know Berny at Speed World, he used to own LACR track. Also how are the emissions in AZ? And last but not least I have lived in the Mojave desert when I was working at Edwards AFB and it was really windy every day of the year and was wondering if Phoenix was the same way?

Thanks.

i would definetly suggest the north valley. sure, firebird is on the south side of town, but with the freeways in the valley, nothing is too far away. are you in the military still?

and btw- its not windy here much at all unless a storm is moving in. and trust me, after living here awhile, you look forward to the storms because there are not many of them.

No I'm a military contractor. I was working for Edwards doing POL which is what I did when I was in. Then I took a transfer to Beale AFB up in Nor Cal where I'm from and also have an auto repair and performance shop. I'm just burnt out on California's ways and laws. I have lived in Washington state, California and Nevada. I really like Phoenix and want to call it home and open another shop there. How is the performance side of things there? In So Cal it was booming and here in Nor Cal its dead! LOL. Hoping to do a lot of racing a car shows there when I'm not racing with the PSCA.

there definetly will be plenty to do here for you! lots of great shows, and plenty of racing. two groups i would suggest are the arizonas fastest street cars, and the copperstate mustang club. both are great groups and filled with some amazing people. you can't go wrong with either. there are a few shops in town, but from what i understand things are tough right now.

Yeah times are tough everywhere right now. I looked at the Arizona Fastest Street Cars and may hook up with them for some racing. I also looked at the Copperstate Mustang Club. They look good and there does seem to be a lot of car activity there.

Cool! So when you say North Phoenix what areas does that cover?? We are trying to look for apartments and get a good idea of where to look.

My vote would be somewhere in chandler, from my expirience it seems to have the most shit to do and isnt as expensive as tempe. Or come live in surprise for dirt cheap and have a track 20 min away, but then youll have to drive a good 30 min to find entertainment

What all do they have to do in Chandler then every where else??? Just curious because every time I have raced with the FFW or PSCA we stayed in Chandler and I really liked it there but I didn't know they had more to offer then the other cities.

My Father lives in Chandler. He seems to likeit other than the strict rules in his sub-division and his high ass house note(lol). He said he was looking around the Apache Junction area do to the better affordability of homes there. He runs his own shop so I don't think location matters as much to him as much as the cost does. He's 58yrs old, so he wouldn't have much input on things to do other than Firebird Raceway, he said was like 5-10 minutes away. I've never been out there, but want to go just for the veiw of all the ladies if nothing else. He goes on and on about them.

Chandler just has soo many good restaurants, tons of small bars, just lots of people and things to do. If you want a cheap house on the other hand check out buckeye and surprise/el mirage. Areas arent as nice, but the housing is sooo fucking cheap

My advice is simple. If AZ invites you over for dinner, do not go! He is
