In these foreign countries.......I usually prefer to go against very young or very old drivers - the young ones generally get excited and spin the tires all the way through first gear while the old guys are the opposite - thier reflexes are slooooowwww off the line- they watch as I launch away from them. The older guys wisdom however dictates that 400HP means:When you are driving a new Vette - all you need to do is floor it and HOLD ON!

I whole heartedly disagree with that end of that statement. The young guys, yeah that's true, but the older guy, at least the ones I know, will walk away from you with a grin. There are those retirement cruisers that finally bought thier dream car and have no interest in racing and only hit the gas every now and then to still feel alive, but there are also those older guys that loved Muscle cars through the 60s and 70s. Now that thier kids are grown they can refocus thier spare time on thier old hobby. Come up to the car cruise in Albany NY in the summer talking about old guys that can't drive. There are over a half dozen old school muscle car guy that will line up to hand you your ass. The pride of the litter up here is a black and white Road Runner that is just shy of 1100 HP on the juice.

Me and my buddy were crusing one night in his 01 GT. We ride down a 4 lane road and proceed to get on the interstate. We had the right-of-way to go ahead and make the left turn onto the interstate while a red z06 Vette was sitting at the light waiting to go straight. My buddy revs his engine as we coast past him. Next thing we know we see a pair of head lights come flying up on us (seeing how it was 1a.m. there weren't many cars on the interstate). My friend is someone that will try to race anything, even if he knows he'll get his ass handed to him. So he took off and the Vette, well he just kind of played with us. He jumped through gears and would let us get a lead on him then come back and pass us like it wasn't a problem at all. We got the Stang up to 148 MPH before he let off and the vette went on. Kinda exciting, but pointless.

Ahhh, it's never pointless to play on open road. It's allfor fun. My friend Mark's first car was a 4 cylinder Mustang. One day we were on the highway and there was a black Porshe ahead of us. I told him to catch it and he just looked at me. This car had 85 on the dash. Eventually I talked him into it and we slowly worked our way up to top speed. That POS was shaking and everything. We got like 50 feet from the rear of the Poshe and he punched it and left us like we were at a complete stop. We knew we would lose, but we still talk about that day over ten years later.

To show the Vette enthusiasts out there that I am not a narrow minded Mustang guy :I feel I should add this in - I am a "former" Vette owner. In 2005 I had bought a 94' that I picked up from an older gentleman that had it sitting in his garage for many years. It only had 40k on it with the 300hp LT1 auto. Dark Tiel color. After owning it for 6 months , IT LOOKED AWESOME, but while driving all it did was rattle, squeak and shake. I am sure the newer Vettes are far superior autos. Plus entering and exiting the car really took it's toll on my back! I had to get rid of it - traded for a 02 Jaguar X-type 3.0L 5 speed CHECK OUT THE LINK http://custom.autos.yahoo.com/galler...zIcezhwVqC98kF ,cool but no V8 Roar and rumble----so I traded that for my Mustang GT. It's also faster than the Vette and the Jag.

thats awesome, I hope I can someday come up on a Z06 late one night and fuck with him and see how they do, and see how my $31,000(when it was new) car would do against a $65,000+ car, I know I would get beat but it would be fun, Im planning on goin to the bakersfield dragway this weekend to test out my new centerforce clutch, hopefully there will be a Z06
