mid 90's model eclipse gs vs 00 v6 stang
buddy from radford came down yesterday with his new car, (new for him mid 90's model) eclipse gs with intake, exhaust, sts, and venom chip. only mod i have is cai. we do 40 mph roll three times. first go he gets a small jump but second i catch up and pass, and pull away in thrid. he complains of stripping third so we go again. this time we both get a nice jump but i pull and third i pull away. he begs for one more shot so we get to 40 and go before i get to third he drops back. we pull into cvs and i ask what happened, and he had stripped third gear completely out. i cant wait to go against him after he fixes it, but unless third gear is his trump card, then i still have him beat.

dont the gs's have the 4 cylineders? like a 2.2 or 2.4

1st and 2nd gen DSMs are all 4-cylinders, with an optional turbo-4 (4G63). The non-turbo 4 is the same as the base model neon motor. Basically for eclipse/talon/lasers, if it's not turbo AWD, it's crap.

oh and if it's a gs you should have him beat anyways. that would be my guess. i wouldnt worry about it too much.

Odd, I thought TSi was Eaglese for GSX, and they had a different trim-level that was equivalent to the GST?

TSI is either FWD or AWD, but not always AWD. i had a TSI FWD, and yea that bitch would burn rubber like it was nothing once it boosted
GST was FWD Turbo and GSX was AWD Turbo Correct me if im wrong, i owned one a year ago and dont remember all the specs.
