Keep it to track...Its that simple...
What can you prove on the street that you cant prove at the track... I think if more tracks open up then street racing would go down...Also I think you should have to be 18 to get your provisional driver license as well...And then you can get your full driver license at 19 or something... |

I believe in keeping it at the track, plus time slips are sheets of facts on your ass kicking! but what i hate is when i lived down in the south there were tracks for the weekend racers and now that im back home in northern cali, i always have to wait for Infenion (Sears Point) to have an no event weekend to go play with my car, then i have huge lines of people and super high prices to enter into a bracket. but thats the price we pay.

I agree your not going to stop street racing by writting tickets and impounding cars. I say go with giving kids a alternative spend the money you've made writting tickets and put it in a public track. It dont have to be fancy you dont even need a tree or clock just a controlled strech of pavement hell charge 5-10 bucks a night to race. Save up the money and add on i bet with as many kids there is wanting to play youll have enough made to have a fully functional drag track with consession stand within a year or 2.

well said. but its going to be hard to convince the 100 million americans or illegals that do it all across america. streetracing has been a problem since the 40's and will still be a problem because its ego's and pride thats involved and not necesarily the car itself. my civic can beat your mustang , my mustang can beat your vette, my mustang can beat your mustang, my bike can beat your camaro. it just goes on and on and on. i haven't raced on the street in 8 years and i'm glad becuase i haven''t had a ticket in 8 years. i drive my 4 cyl or my lincoln around and everyblue moon i will drive the stang to work or the store. but thats about it. i like car shows and dragstrips better becuase at least at a drag strip you can't argue and lie about who won or lost. the time slip will tell it all.

I was once a street racer myself, now I'm much much wiser, and I agree with what everyone has said here thus far. I would love to see a few cheap strips put up around my area, to keep street racing to a minimum. Racing has got so bad here in Seattle that most cities have put up "NO Racing Zone between 10pm-5am" signs at every traffic light. No crowds permitted in these areas as well. If I were mayor or something I'd definitely push for more effective ways of getting racers off the roads and onto the track. Definitely good food for thought.

i think the main reason people street race, besides the rush of it, is because on the street theres such a large variety of people to race. this is not including of course races that are planned, of course.

Leading cause of death of people ages 16 through 35... you get one guess... automobile accidents. Obviously everyone in that statistic was not racing, but I bet a good many were. Wonder why people are so oblivious to the danger of not only street racing but overly aggressive driving in general, the world may never know...

Yeah but people need to think about what they are doing...
If someone cant scrape up $10-$20 to get into the track then they dont need to be driving a sports car... |

well the cops around here (guthrie, oklahoma) let our car club, (all highschool aged kids, founded in 1976) the Street Kings, race out on our local outlaw 1/4 mile strip of highway. they sometimes come out and watch us race on the highways. its pretty nice that they are so cool with our club

I might be behind on replying on this, but do you really have to have all that shit to race at the track? and does it really cost that much? maybe its because I'm from redneck ass part of alabama, but here, we don't have to anything but 8.00 to run at our track, lol...that makes it even easier to go race there...I was racing my ex gf's uncle's camaro ss when I was 15 (I'm 20 now)...damn...glad I live here sometimes...I'm young, but I've been running from the tree for about 5 years haha...
sweet home alabama I guess...

I have a positive street racing story....
My friend owned a little 2002 dodge neon, it definatly wasn't anything special. He walked home from school to see his car smashed up against the curb. There was no note or anything. He called and told me I replied by laughing at him. The next day this ricer came up and told him he hit him with his toyota corolla. Aparrently he was street racing. Anyway a few weeks later my friend and I drive a 2003 mustang of the lot after he got his check for the car with a few thousand extra from the insurance company .
