well i dont promote street racing in anyway, but i do go for it sometimes on the highway or from a light if some one wants to go, April 1st i lost a real good friend of mine and was like a brother, he was killed street racing after he lost control of his car and threw it around a tree and couldnt tell what kinda car it was, because it was so bad, he hit it at about 140mph

once upon a time i was caught racing on the street, only it was not drag racing, it was high speed racing. i was clocked at 156 and should have gone to jail that day. in my defense, i was very young and there wasnt any traffic out that day.. minus the cop. i ended up serving two months in jail, and being fined over $1000. not to mention the lawyer i hired to try to get me out of it. along with all that i wasnt allowed to drive for 6 months and i was on probation for a year. now that i think about it, i could have killed myself, or the driver of the other car. and at 156mph.. theres nothing thats going to save you short of a miracle. accidents happen everyday, but theres no reason to raise your odds by breaking the law. i read two pages of posts telling of their states programs for legal racing.. and i applaud that. they just need to get the word out a bit better i think.

I know this is kinda old, but hey I'm new, so it's ok.

I'd be lieing is I said I haven't street raced in my mustang. I've done it 3 times. I've been lucky (VERY lucky), that I didn't get hurt, or hurt anyone else, and/or got stopped by the cops or state troopers.

It is a huge rush, and scarey at the same time. You don't realise how many things can go wrong especially @ 125.

Drag strips are all well and good but when you live on a island in the Alaskan panhandle with 30 miles of paved road you don't have many options. Forutunatly all you have to worry about when you leave the city limits is deer!

I don't agree with racing on public roads where innocent people could come in harms way, even though most of us have done it a time or two. Around here the nearest track is over 2 hours away.We go to an industrial park on the weekend or late at nite and park cars at each end of the road, blocking any other cars (there aren't any but just in case) from going where we are racing. It is still illegal but at least we protect innocent people from possible harm and the racers know what they are getting into. There have been several street racing deaths around here in the last few months and all were drivers killed running from cops when they came to break it up.

ya this post really sobering..

but the problem is around where i live is that the closest dragstrip (pomona CA) is like 1 hour 30 min away on a good day and like 3-4 hours on a bad day and the drag they did have here they took out before i was born...
belieave it was called "GRAND RACEWAY" In irvine i think my dad during the 70s took his camaro out there. still has it too
but anyway they should really put another drag stip here in irvine or in tustin somewhere for us teens/adults to go to so we don't have to waste 10$ worth of gas trying to get there .
and have some safe legal fun!

i used to street race every thursday nite, mainly because my local dragstrip wasnt open. i did that for a month or so. i quit street racing when i heard about a street racer that hit a civic and killed the driver and injured the passenger. the civic was was sitting at a stop light and the street racer (who was in a mustang) rear ended her at about 85 miles an hour. the driver, who had just won prom queen the nite before, was killed instantly and the passenger was badly injured because the gas tank caught on fire. the street racer wasnt hurt in the crash but he has to live with that guilt for the rest of his life. street racing is just not worth it. now i just go to street fights at the dragstrip

wow dude no i agree that racing should be kept at the track but you must not have a brain if you think u should be 18 to get your prov. license: im 18 and i have had a job since i got my car you must really be pampered to believe that some of us had to have jobs through out high school bro

I don't street race, and I think that everyone should take it to the track (where the real drama is).

Anyway, I realized a while back that I didn't have the money or knowledge to do the things that he is doing, so I just bought some wheels to make my stock GT look like his, and I tell everyone that it's me in the videos. I'm sorry I lied to everyone all these months. I almost got caught a couple of months ago when a guy on this forum wanted to come to my house. Luckily, I had time to prepare, so I scattered some old engine parts around my garage and told him that my NOS kit was messed up and my car was having problems. He bought it, but I feel like I am going to be caught in this lie pretty soon, and I'll look like a total douchebag.

It feels good to get this all out in the open.
