Street Racing

Street Racing seems like the most affordable way to get the automotive adrenaline rush all us enthusiasts crave. What member of America’s youth doesnt get off to hot girls, fast cars, and free rides? What seems like fun and games to some, hoewever, is serious business to others. Not only is racing on public streets illegal in all 50 states, it is the most dangerous and selfish act the youth of today is getting involved in.

Man, that's a very sobering post! Not to be-little your intent but it was heart breaking to see that Mach 1 trashed.

I searched google last year and found 4 sources from dmv to a local FL state commission on street racing stats and the youth leadership groups in FL. deliberately strayed away from CA to show that this is not a Hollywood, CA-stirred myth, but a nationwide epidemic that needs to stop. Even if the road is empty, a deer, cat, dog, or kid could walk "out of nowhere" and have his life ended by simple ignorance. This post is not meant to be "sad," just educational. Those that race the street and claim innocence by open roads should think twice, or sadly but truely, end up in this thread as an "R.I.P. to certain member" who will no longer be posting from Cell Block 6 or the grave.

Our local track has "Beat the Heat" high school drags once a month on Fridays. There are several old cop cars that run out there against the high school kids and is generally alot of fun. There are only a couple of the kids cars that are even close to being quick. Most are riced out hondas but the idea is to give the kids a place and reason not to street race.

That's cool. I'd get a kick out of racing a 200k mile chipped Crown Victoria

2 of the cars are late 60s early 70s tubbed racers running 10.5s. They were complete with sirens and red lights. One is a Fairlane and the other was an Impala. Only saw one of the recent retired Crown Vics. Still a good time and I talked with several and they were really cool old guys.

there needs to be more of this across the country. if i were to own a drag strip, i would do the same. you could get alot of PR from something like this. plus, you are attempting to get the kids off the street and to the strip to race... its a win win situation...

Oh please! Kids, dogs, cats, and bicycles, and an occasional pedestrian are just collateral, and front end, damage! And on top of that they are moving targets. Takes me back to my war days when I was as; how can you shoot old women and kids? You just lead them a little less!
OK I’m just funning.

Here in Wisconsin we have a program called Real Street Drags. The time clocks are turned off so nobody knows what anybody elses car runs. People walk around and set races up with people and negotiate money and car lengths (if any). Its street racing done on a race track. The only difference is the police won't come and bust you at Real Street Drags. Its a good time.

Darrel we have something simmilar like that but its called Street Legal night and its every friday and the clocks are turned off but you can get a time slip if you want, but they dont have bets and stuff like that, that i know of, i dont go to it cause its too far away, thats the closest dragstrip that is a 1/4 mile around here and if you hit no traffic you can be there in about an hour.

i am 17 and found out that street racing is not worth it. i was pulled over while racing a vette and almost lost my license. he did not clock me even tho i was doing about 80. luckily my father handled the situation. i never want to put my dad in that situation again and i never want to lose my license or kill innocent people or myself.

Do it at the strip!!!

I have never street raced, and i plan not to but i know a couple people who have and they all say the same thing, if they had a track to go to it woulndt happen. the closest track to where i live is like 1hr 30mins to 2 hours away. so its not that easy to just go.

What if you don't believe in gods or a God? Then street racing is all in vain selfish actions. A crime is any action that does not benefit society. Street racing does not benefit society. Sure, some people may make money street racing which in turn is reinstated into the economy, but risks and rewards make street a crime. The innocent losses make street racing a crime. If there were gods or a God, those beings or Being would not rest street racers, just idle their helpless souls in eternal oblivious suffering- Hell.
