WS6 Kill

Im most certainly not one for street racing. I never really have been. I wont deny that i crack open some hits on the street now and then, but when it comes to another car and battling for supremacy.. i leave that kind of stuff for the track. But last night, i just couldnt resist the urge that ive been denying myself for years. I was on my way home from a get together at a buddy of mines place.. i was kind of tired, because it was almost 11:00, and all i wanted to do was get home, and get to bed (even though its my day off today). I was probably 10 minutes from home, when a very... very clean looking WS6 pulled aside me at a stop light. This has happend to me before, and ive shrugged off the notion of any challenges in the past, and i intended too again, if it presented itself.

The car sounded pretty good. It definately had a cam, and probably an array of other bolt-ons. The light turns green, and my attention is directed back to driving. After a minute or so of listening to the exhaust note(which sounded damn good), my interest subcides, and my prime concern is getting home. The next stop light is very different. He stops, then i stop. He glances over.. and stares at me for a moment.. My intials thoughts were, "Ummm, i dont think so dude, not here and not now." If only i had enough self control to say it out loud. He lightly taps the gas to see if i was game. I lost control of my right foot.. and returned a small hit of the throttle. Bad idea.

He starts to edge forward, in anticipation of the green light, and because im tired.. i just sit there, idling.. not really giving two shits as to whats about to happen. As i notice the opposing traffic light turning yellow.. i start to think to myself.. "Ahh fuck it, im gonna show this clown hes making a mistake trying me out." I inch foward a little, bring the R's up to about 2500rpm... he jabs the gas and holds it.. the light turns green. I stab the gas to the floor, and slip the clutch trying hard to avoid lots of tire spin, which not suprisingly i didnt succeed. He drops the hammer and spins pretty hard, and most of first gear for both of us is a pedalling fest (i bet it sounded pretty sweet for the group of people walking down the sidewalk). Second gear.. were both about even and im accelerating pretty hard... he grabs third probably just a second or two before i do.. and starts to walk slowly. "Shit, there he goes" i think to myself. Suprisingly, he didnt walk away as bad as he first started too.. and when we both killed it at the top of third gear, my front bumper was JUST behind his door. Not bad i say to myself, considering hes got cubes over me.

We both brake pretty hard to catch the next light that has turned yellow. We stop, i glance over and tell him that was a good run, and nice car. He simply comes back with.. "Yeah, i know.. thanks, again?" Yeah, umm okay. Knowing he'd probably really walk me this time, because the distance to the next light was further than the last.. i said fuck it anyways, lets hit it again. Light turns green, pedal fest again. Second gear.. and he SCREAMS away from me! I mean.. absolutely launches away like im almost not even trying. "WTF?" I say to myself. So i shut it down, no need wear out parts trying to catch him. I meet him at the next light, and hes got a shit ass smile on his face. "What the hell was that?" I ask. "I forgot i had some nitrous left in the bottle.. couldnt resist." Punk ass kid. Okay. My response.. "Well, do you have any more left?" "Sure." Lets run again then. I say this as i hit the remote bottle opener and start to get pressure in the lines. Everything looks good, and i dont bother to purge the system.. because i didnt want him to know i had the juice. I wanted to play the same bullshit trick he did with me. Light turns green, he launches hard.. and spins, while im come out of the hole almost off an idle.. i pull first gear JUST under WOT throttle, and because he was spinning first.. i stayed right there with him. I grab second, and smack the hammer straight to the floor. Wow!! An explosion of acceleration.. and the car is pulling super hard, almost immediately, i lost sight of him. The tires were begging for mercy, and to save myself from an unexpected attitude change.. i short shift to third. The nitrous stays on.. and the car is pulling like a 747. This i have to say, is the first time in a long time, ive used nitrous on the street. I wasnt tired anymore.

At the top of third, i realize i cant hear him, i glance over my shoulder.. and hes probably a full car behind. Hes trying, but not making much progress. I figure im going plenty fast enough at the very top of third, and i dont need 4th to prove that ive got him... so i shut it down, and he screams by. Yeah okay! We stop once more... and he has this suprised look on his face. "Sorry man.. i must have forgot that I HAD nitrous left in the bottle.. take it easy." I head home... tell my wife.. she screams at me at first, but then asks.. "Well, did you atleast beat him?" "Yeah, you could say." Im still in trouble, but it was fun while it lasted.

Just thought i'd share this, its rare that i ever do it.

Anthony

Good kill! Sounds like you had some good close races.

I was looking at your sig, were you spraying a 100 shot or 200 shot?

Right now its jetted for about 150hp or so. Its been jetted for 200 a few times, but i couldnt launch the car with it because the DRs were completely worn out. The most successful pass (even still, i spun horribly) has been with a 100 hit. Last night i was jetted for about 150.

Im not sure what he was running... maybe a 100.. or 125
