if he has the 3800 3.8l v6, then no. Those are quick ass v6's. Probably the best american made v6 to date.

according to the specs i looked up he only has 180 hp. You should have the edge on him with the FI kit and shift kit

You can get the LS in the 3.8 though.

My mom had a 2001 LS with a 3.8L

my father has a 2001 Monte Carlo SS. Sadly all it has is the 3800 3.8 V6 with a 4 speed atuo w/ OD...

so were looking at

2002 Monte Carlo LS: 180 horsepower at 5200 rpm, with 205 at 4000 rpm

VS.

2001 Mustang V6: 190 horsepower at 5250 rpm, with 220 foot-pounds of torque at 2750 rpm.

youre also lighter than him by around 200 lbs

i beleive your gonna win this one from start to finish with a good launch

87 GNX ran a stock 13.5 87 vette ran stock 14.5s.

EDIT:The nice thing about 3.8s is that you can get a supercharger for like 800 bucks, and a decent one at that.

my buddy has a 98 grand prix gt... how easy is it to add that s/c? we're thinking about doing it, but we dont know if it'll be safe because of the stock compression ration on the gt... i'm sure the C/R is different on the GTP's... probably lower.

Well I meant dropping it in, not the CR. To be honest if you ran premium and a conservative tune without too much psi you should be ok. If anything I doubt a set of used 3.8 s/c heads will be remotely expensive although perhaps hard to find.. If the CR isn't that different don't even sweat it.

I'm about to try to get my friend to buy a 3.8 camaro and drop in one of those superhcargers.

EDIT: It looks it might be a 8.5 from what I've just read online.

ok... do you know what psi they run stock? probably 8?

I'm a die hard 4.6L 2v fanatic, but i'm in love with the 3800 3.8L. God, for their time era... they were beasts... and still are. They will hand any domestic v6 their ass... minus domestic made imports... that nissan 3.5L is crazy powerful.
