94 GT vs 97 3000GT SL

So my friend has been talkin trash ever since I got this car. He drives a 97 3000GT SL, with intake, exhaust, and an automatic tranny. I've looked up the numbers before: I'm 100 lbs lighter (prolly a bit more cuz he's auto), even though 3000gt's are v6's.

We're driving to Tulsa today (about 45 mins) and as we're mosying (spelling?) along on the interstate (apparently barren at 5 am) he pulls into the right lane and rolls down his window with a grin on his face. The interstate is open to us, there's no one in front of us and only a big rig behind us.

I grin back, he rolls up his window, and its go time. We slow down to 50. I turn up the Metallica cd I had playing, and I hear him honk a few times, then let loose. The pedal's to the floor, I shift into 3rd and I leave him like he's standing still. I slow back down and he wants to try again.

"Fuel" is playing the in the background and I've got the need. The need for speed. *lol* I slow down to 50 again and he honks and goes. I let him go for a few seconds before I hit the gas. About the time I hit 70 and shift into 3rd, I'm caught up. When I hit 3rd, I'm gone again.

Needless to say, he bought lunch, and never ONCE spoke about it the whole day. Yay, I have something to brag about now

I'm waiting for paul walker to come prancing (spelling) on in here and to one of those hair toss's and make a kawasaki 636 do 80mph in one wheel in reverse

Im guessing your still on the stock gears. I wish I threw into 3rd at 70. ha. nice kill.

don't mess with the vr-4 3000, those things can be sick. good kill for sure though, always nice to shut up a buddy LOL

and yeah the vr-4's are MEAN. and relatively cheap too, you can find a 91-93 vr4 in autotrader for around 11k

the sl's are slow pieces of trash. Im not to positive on what the 3.0 (i think) n.a. motors put out, but i know its not a whole heck of a lot. My friend has a 07 v6 mustang, and that was good enough to leave the sl looking stupid.
