yeah 3:73s are nice but arent nearly enough unless you have F/I and even then they arent enough sometimes. i can tell already that im going with 3:90s or 4:10s.... i know this question is asked about 40 billion times but ive seached for 3:90s and what are the rpms at in 5th doing 70 vs 4:10s...... that will probably decide which one i go with.
the 4:10s wont kill your mpg like youd think unless you are always going 70-80 mph on ur daily commute. plus you'll get to the gas stations faster.

Um, no.
They make your power more effective. Think of it this way: Stock gears are like having a breaker bar with a 3.27 foot handle. Aftermarket gears are like having a 4.10 handle. The longer handle doesn't make you stronger, it just gives you more leverage with the strength you already have.

thats a good metaphor. lol. yea...you guys are right...4.10s. i bought a v8 mustang for power...not gas mileage...where would you guys buy your gears from?? would 4.10s still leave me enough low end to burn out? also would i need a tune after gears?

4.10s will effectively give you TREMENDOUS amounts of low end, and PLENTY to do burn outs... More than you had before. You won't need a tune, but you will need a new speedo gear.

How old are you? You should still be able to do 125-130+.

lol, you already have 8.8 dude. these guys are right, get 4.10 Ford Racing Brand ONLY, and the gears to correct your speedo.

From the way you sound, fine someone good to do it for you, lol... It's not a really simple DIY kind of thing if you are not really mechanic incline. I STRONGLY suggest to get the correct speedo gear to correct your speed, you'll be WAYYY off, it's only like $20 i think

You might be correct though, a tune or software or something might be able to fix that, ask in that section, you'll know for sure.

your speedo is gear driven not electrically driven.

take it some where...Better to have it done RIGHT once then to pay for it twice. Gears for sure, If you have any cash left maybe like CAI or pulleys.

No, we still have mechanical speedo - you'll need the right gear to correct it. They're different colors, I forget which you'll need, but they're less than $20 each.
