i tried to race camarojunky earlier this year when i met him at a car meet/cruise at Malibu beach. i got up next to him while we were driving around and asked him if he wanted to do a quick run but the girl with him didnt want him messing around while she was in the car.

funny true story...
I was with my GF and I was on the on ramp and there was a newer red camaro ss with like 20" chrome rims and this dude must of been in his mid 30s and he was with a woman bout the same age, prolly wife. and we got behind him with no intension to race because i was with my girl and I didnt think dude would race. so we are heading up the ramp and he gets heavy on the gas and zips across the solid whit line just to get stuck behind a jeep in the fast lane. so jeep pulls ahead enough for him to worm through the cars and the whole time my gf is in the car (shes a camaro fan btw) and she keeps saying look at this asshole what is he doing? and then she tell me "race him babe" it was then I knew I had made a great choice! lol so by this time the jeep went into the slow lane and I got on the gas and passed the jeep, I get next the the SS and right when im creeping up next to him not on the gas at this time he just guns it and I throw it into third and mash the gas and even with his 1 car length jump on me I cough up quick and passed him and I kept creeping up in till I shut it down and by this time I was a good 3 car lengths in front of him. and the whole time I was passing and moving ahead my gf was just laughing her ass off at the dude for being a dick. he followed me on the off ramp I gave him the thumbs up and we went our separate ways. My gf started to like Mustangs a whole lot more after she met me and got to go for a ride.
and I believe a ride in any high hp car is the only way some people will get respect for that car. just like ppl who don't respect a termi in till one hands them their ass or in till they ride in one. like I respect camaros power capabilities It is just my preference to have a stang over a camaro because IMO i believe my stang is more comfy, has better looks, and is cheaper for the same amount if not more hp.

HA! You'll get flamed for sure! That place has gotten to be a total bitch fest lately, and that's why I rarely go there. I spend WAY more time on this site and I don't even own a Mustang...is that weird?

In all honesty though, the performance difference between a 2V GT and an LS1 is quite a bit larger than a Termi and a LS1....That being said, the performance difference between a PULLIED Cobra and a lid/exhaust LS1 is not even close!

You should do it just for shits and giggles, but it wouln't last long. The street racing moderator on tech doesn't put up with much shit. It will probably get locked before the day is up.

It is a decent site, and I used to spend all my time there, but when a site like that gets to be that large (it is the largest GM based performance forum on the web) you just naturally start to get a lot of dumbasses that say dumb shit and make the rest of us look bad.

rk 2000, i ask you this in another thread but ill ask again. What do you think an 02 ss with a lid would run, and what would it take for that car to run 12.5. consistently on street tires.

Sorry, I must have not seen that other thread.

An average/decent driver probably ~13.2, a great driver ~12.8. An air lid is the most basic of mods for an LS1, they only cost about $95. I would consider myself a slightly better than average driver (not great by anymeans) and when I had my old Z/28 at one point it was a lid only car and I was running with and beating cars that were cutting low 13's.

For the average guy to run consistant mid 12's on street tires I would say nothing less than full bolt-ons (long tubes, lid, pullies, upgraded intake manifold for the older cars, ported throttle body) and some sort of gear and tire upgrade. There are some guys on tech that claim 12.5-12.6 with just lid/exhaust/drag radials, but they must be a direct descendant of Jesus himself.

The guy I bought my SS from was running 12.7 all day long on street tires with basically nothing more than long tubes, lid, and underdrive pully (stock gears and valvetrain), and he would be the first to tell you he is a less than great driver. The SS was actually the first manual transmission car that he had ever driven.

hey RK, did u by any chance watch Pass Time on speed channel last night? there was a guy with a bone stock auto-tranny 2006 c6. he ran a 14 flat in the quarter LOL!

u should hunt him down, slap his ass, then show him how to represent the GM guys the right way!

No! That would suck, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. A member of SVTP went on there with his KB Cobra and ran a 15 something. He later made a thread about it claiming that the car before him really oiled the track down, but Rich the other producers were in a hurry so they did a half assed job cleaning it up. Consequently the kid had to let out and got an embarrasing E/T on national T.V. Rich just really seems like such a douche to me that has no idea what he is doing, and after reading all the shit that went down with the LS1tech car and the Pinks people, than I completely believe something like that could happen.

I did see a S197 cut a 13 flat with nothing more than an intake/tune/tires the other day

cool thanks I thought he was just messing with me, trying to frustrate a stanger. this guy has race cars and is at the track frequently there is no fucking way he has a 6 year old camaro with nothing more then a dam lid on it. i think he had at least a stall convertor and gears. i dont think he had headers but i bet cat back anyway.

If he is an auto with a stall than anything is possible. There are guys running pretty deep into the 12's with lid/exhaust/good tires/and a stall, but they are usually easy to spot because they trap pretty low. A typical time slip would look something like 12.6 @ 107
