There are way better things to concentrate on than stealing a guy's car. He has a clean record, and IMO there is no way they should be able to do that for anything short of drug trafficing.

The cops in my area are. And that's only the city police. The county police are half as corrupt. I see city police turning on their lights to go through red lights on a regular basis, and one asshole almost hit me doing a 4 lane u turn with no emergency.

Get a good lawyer, you can get your car back. It might cost more, and I gaurantee that you can get it back. Unless you signed something stating they can use it for a lesser offense. I wish you the best of luck. I'd be scraping every dollar I can together and building my case, and shove down there throats, they're not going to anticipate all out war in the courtroom. There is too little info here to actually give some good advice so maybe you can help us out.

1) Any priors on your record? (I.E. Speeding tickets (how many), misdemeanors, felonies, etc..)

2) Did they catch the other racer? If so do your best to track him down (Police reports are open to the public, you should be able to find it by asking the local station for all recent reports made by the arresting officer)

3) If you can find the the other racer, find out if they are punishing him the same, or if he got let off state your case as police harassment, stating since you drive/drove the car you did they labeled you.

I believe that the law with the confiscating/crushing cars is total bullshit. If you have any other questions you can ask me, and if I can't answer them I can run them by the chief of Oakland and try to help you out.
