turbo civic

Well I raced turbo civic last night and I suck at launching He got me on the hole shot I stupidly dropped the clutch and spun 1st and 2nd let off the gas to gain traction in 2nd and then slowly caught up to him, by the end he was about a one and half car length ahead of me . I know for sure if I had launched better I would have beaten him he was running 10psi of boost he said he figured he had about 220whp i have 262whp and 301 torque. So I definatley messed up haha. I was going to ask him if he wanted to race again but it was late and I had work in the morning. He is a friend of mine so I'm sure I'll see him again and take a poop on him, btw I have non adjustable upper and lower control arms waiting to be put in, I know they help with wheel hop but will that help my wheel spin significantly or just a little bit?

You should have killed him from a hole....

What kind of engine did it have? If it was the stock d16 at 10psi, it would probably have 180-210whp....

If you race him again dont do it from a roll......

I know I screwed up my launch, I believe it was a d16 because he said he was already pushing the limits of his engine. We didn't race from a roll, I'm not a fan of that kind of racing. Where we raced is a desloate area with 2 lanes and everytime I race there I have trouble gaining traction in the left lane, I'm guessing there is just a good amount of sand on the road I'm usually fine elsewhere. W/e I'll let him have his day, next time we meet it will be different, same thing happened to me when I raced an R32 VW we switched lanes the 2nd time around and it was a different story, the road makes the difference.

don't be scared to run anything from a dig or a roll. the worst out come is you get beat. unless of course you get caught, but i'm not preachin about that crap.

to help with your spinning, u need drag radials or u need to practice better throttle control. dont floor the gas right away. get into it gradually.

do u remember what rpm range u were at when u launched?

Neither scares me but it requires more skill in a dig so I admire it more. I could care less if I win or lose just thought I would share my story. Ofcourse its always nicer to win .

i have nitto 555's which is a decent tire, my throttle control is where i am weak im usually pretty good with that but it was kind of a rushed race and i wasnt thinking i think i launched at around 1800 2000 rpms maybe even less. theres an old industrial park by me thats pretty much a ghost town now because of our wonderful economy im going to practice over there. thanks for the input

I personally do alot of roll races. I like to go from a 10 roll or a 20 roll. I'll go as high as 40mph, after that I won't run, but I also have 4.10, if I had a 3.73 I might be better off.

yea I have 4.10's as well, and good amount of other mods. This race was the case of me messing up, if I run into him again I'll update the outcome.
