06 GT vs 4 door Harley F-150

Crusing to work this morning at 80 and pass by this truck, well he speeds up and meets me by my door. We curise about .5 mile before I give it just alittle gas, just to let him know if he is game so am I. Then I hear the SC whine come to a houl as his auto downshifts, I drop to 4th and we stay door to door for about .5 sec and them I pull hard on him. Don't know how many lengths, It is hard to judge distanse through the rear view mirror in the dark, but he was far behind. We get side by side again and slow the speed to about 55ish, I decide to stay in 4th with 2500 rpm just to make it fun. Big mistake! He takes off and I floor it, he pulls .5 length right away and starts to creep away. We shut that run down before my rpm's climed to anything decent. Third and final shot we go from about 55 again and I slip him a little 3rd gear, he punches it and I follow in suit, but this time I suck his doors off as I scream by, hit 4th and see his headlights get small. We gave thumbs up and I came to work with a smile.

Those trucks are quick for what they are, but not nearly as fast as an S197. Good kill.

I rarily get challenged on the street and not being able to make a trip to the track, I was getting ichy.
I saw one at the track last year running 13.9/8's. He had some exhaust work. My best time is a 13.3 w/ traction problems in every gear but I was hoping he would keep up better. But maybe my car is faster than I think, it is much easier to get traction from a roll than a stop.

Clean truck though!

I haven't gone through the gears to see where they top out at except I do know that 3rd is good to just around 110. 3rd was just right to put him in my mirrors, plus I sometimes miss 3rd when I race at the track. Too bad I don't have the money to get a pro to teach me how to drive.

Nice kill. Yeah with stock gears 2nd will top out around 70 so if you wanted to really get into it that's where ya start...

Well a short shifter will help a whole lot with missing third if not stop it all together. The stock springs are weak. You dont need a pro to teach you. You just need to learn ur car. Try going thru your gears and pay attention to where they top out and what RPMs they are at when they do top out. Then you will feel what the car is doing and it will start to come natural.

When I go through the gears I don't typically look at the mph, I look at the rpms to watch for my shift. I havent had the car for a long time and I don't take it pass 4500 rpm often, so I just lack experience. But I will take your advice and watch the mph when I do get on it. I just started to get use to how the car pulls with the LT's, the rpm run up faster and the first time I got on it in 1st I bounced off the limiter. It does pull like crazy at the top of 3rd and through 4th though.

This may scare you but when doing so kinda hold it there to see mph vz rpm. You wont have to hold it long and it wont hurt your car. It just takes time. The part that I just learned was going into third hard. The car bucks hard then goes.Well I found out the traction control was taking over . I turned it off and no more bucking lol. Now this is when down shifting to third or sec. I bring the revs up and drop the clutch it would break loose and the car said no way. Trc off no prob lol you get it.
